Actually, I would have thought that most of L'il Nicky's Red Horde would have moved on by now, so your comment caught me off guard.

Most of the good ones did.

The ones that stayed were mostly busts.

Our assistant coaches in the last few years of Saban weren't great.

Kadyn Proctor went 1st round last year, but he was not at all the type of lineman DeBoer wants.

Simpson went 1st round.

But then many of our other players were transfers in, or they were drafted much later.

This is the first year running the type of offense he wants to run. It looked great to start the year, but the past 2 games we've gotten beat at the line of scrimmage too much.

There are some guys on the market that might turn into great coaching hires later.
My nightmare as an LSU fan would be for Bama to get Cignetti. He kinda reminds me of a younger Saban in his demeanor, and has already proven he can build a great team in the modern NIL era - something Saban couldn't (or wasn't willing) to do in the twilight of his career.

He claims to love IU, but really - if offered would he turn down a chance to coach in Tuscaloosa? Methinks not.

I said Conf Champ or NC.

Ryan Day won the B10 in his second year
Smart won the SEC in his second year
Swinney won the ACC in his 4th year
Harbaugh is the anomaly...but we know he cheated to eventually get there.

Now list all the big-name HCs that accomplished nothing in their first three years and ended up getting fired by year 6.

It's Ohio St and the Big10.

Kirby was given a gift.

This is stupid to start with since most coaches never win a NC.

He's 65, would he really want to move at his age after what he's built at IU?

Dunno, but he sure doesn't talk or behave like a sunsetting 65yo. Based on all the times I've seen him in interviews he struck me as MUCH younger.

Some people's 65 aren't the same as the rest of us.

If he had, say, 5-7 good coaching years ahead of him before he retired to a rocker on the porch, he'd be a fool to not at least consider a job at Bama (assuming it was ever offered to begin with - this is all just conjecture, right?).

Read carefully. I said CONFERENCE Championship or National Championship.

The point is, if your coach hasn't won a Conf Championship or NC within the first 3 years, it's very unlikely to ever happen.

And your comment about Smart being gifted the SEC Championship because he was in the SECE....that is literally how the SEC has been decided since 1992. East vs West. That is the norm.

I still think the Aggies are gonna get someone left on their schedule

I would have pegged Alabama for the surprise Aggie win but probably not this week. Element of surprise and taking a week off mentality before the bye week is gone. There is too much heat now on Grubb for making dumb shite play calls with a stud but still developing QB and a semblance of running game. Even the D is getting it's fair share of criticism as TN basically dog walked all over them at the end of the game. I am sure the players are hearing how soft they are so I expect them to come out firing on all cylinders. Aggie could be a poor ULM after Florida State last year.

When did casual fans get ADHD and become totally retarded

It's not program-specific either, it's across the board...

Basically, if you lose a game, fans want you fired

Someone tell me what is possibly wrong with DeBoer...

He's not Saban and he hasn't won a NC yet.

If Bama isn't careful, they are going to be the next Florida...desperately trying to recapture the Spurrier/Meyer heyday by hiring and firing HCs every 2-3 years.

I can't wait for that to happen.

You're just saying random things that have no actual bearing on reality.

As for Kirby and the SECCG. Both Alabama and Georgia lost to Auburn. Georgia's loss was worse. Georgia got in only because of being in the East, not because they were really the better team for the rematch. And then in the rematch Georgia got the benefit of a banged up Auburn team who had to play Alabama the week before.

Yeah, that's how it goes, but stop pretending like Kirby earned something special or normal and that is was any kind of indication on how the future would go.

If you want to do that kind of crap, then Alabama won the SEC last year based on the rules we'll have next year going forward if that's all that matters in terms of their future.

Hell DeBose @ Alabama won the SEC in his 3rd year. Started the next year preseason #3. Finished the next season 3-8 and fired.

All of which highlights it's a dumb metric to measure them against.

Yes but Marcel went backwards and our lines are worse.

Not gonna happen this year.

Postseason ramifications on the line? Check

In Baton Rouge? Check

Mobile Alabama quarterback? Check

Blake Baker still LSU’s DC? Check

I don’t like our odds.

Jesus, are you really that dumb? SECE vs SECW....that's how it's been since 1992. Still salty about losing to Auburn in 2017, I see.

And it actually was an indication of what was to come. Smart has 4 SEC Championships and 2 NCs and has been the most dominant team of the 2020s. WTF are you on about???

Yes, that's how it's always been. That doesn't mean you accomplished some great feat that is a signal of the future as you claim it to be. The degree of difficulty was less than normal.

Correlation doesn't equal causation.

If you get a raise at work tomorrow, even though it happened after this conversation, that doesn't mean this conversation was an indicator it was going to happen.

Alabama won the NC in 2017.

Totally agree but am not happy about it. Also not happy to barely make the playoffs only to get dispatched in 1st or 2nd round.

A@M is a cluster, they down graded after last season on their coaching staff. The loss of their coordinators killed them, their talent isn’t as bad as their record. If BAMA doesn’t beat them by 3 TDs I will be surprised.
