This is the most talented roster he will have. Its year 3.
The coaching trend over the last 10+ years or so is if they haven't accomplished anything significant (Conference Championship or NC) in their first three years....then it's probably not going to happen.

Damn some of you need to calm down. I’m not saying the coaches couldn’t do a lot better but if you fire the coach the team transfers out. Bama is just now starting to losing all the Saban guys after he retired. It would be different if there were another Saban or some other coach with a proven track record out there to be got. There isn’t right now. The best Bama could do is move laterally and hire some guy everyone thinks will be good or hire a guy that’s about on the same level as Deboer in the first place. Thats not worth losing most of the team in a coaching change and setting the program back massively.

"LSU and Bama are both going to be 6-2 going into 11/7 and it is going to be glorious"
With the winner still having a realistic chance at the CFP.

Ryan Day - 6 years to win a NC
Kirby Smart - 6 years to win a NC
Jim Harbaugh - 9 years to win a NC
Dabo Swinney - 9 years to win a NC
Ed Orgeron - 3.5 years to win a NC. Really it's 4 because he coached 8 games of the previous season and had the program under it's control. But 3 as the non interim HC. I figure 3.5 is a good compromise.
Curt Cignetti - 2 years.
And before you try to claim Kirby won conference championship in 3 years, that was pretty much a gift due to playing in the SEC east rather than it being earned like normal.

We have officially reached the "we want to lose games so we get a new coach sooner" phase.

Based on stats, it's the most difficult remaining game for both.
Sadly, my model has LSU as the 4 point favorite right now, mostly due to home field advantage.
Which based on how Alabama has played on the road this year, is probably accurate.
Hopefully we get that shite figured out in time.

Preposterous !

If true, and if Bama eventually reverts to the mean of the rest of the SEC where they aren't crushing souls with an endless supply of 5-stars that rode the pine for 2 years before starting, how will the Bama fans take that dose of reality?
Again, not throwing shade, just genuinely curious about your perspective.

We have to play at Jordan Hare this weekend. That's going to be hard to win.

Bama doesn’t have a bunch of Saban players left on the roster outside of maybe a handful of guys maximum.

There is zero chance bama will lose to A&M.

1 hundo correct. We are stuck with DeBoer. We are back to the 2000's.

Okay, confused because you said in an earlier quote:

Looking for a season-defining game November 7th. If Green and Weeks are back, I'd favor LSU more. If they are out, then I'd favor Alabama slightly.

If a team is still winning and is competitive on the field then it makes no sense to fire a coach just to bring in someone that may or may not be better than what that team currently has. Unless Alabama had a chance to bring in a Saban, Urban Meyer level coach right now then changing most likely does more harm than good. There are some guys on the market that might turn into great coaching hires later. Bob Chesney comes to mind. But I’m not tearing everything down to go hire him right now. He needs a few more years to prove he is that guy.

The opposite IMO. I'm glad we are finally getting those players off the roster for the most part.
We are ahead of schedule. Next year is supposed to be the year. We are a very young team.

A large chunk of players transferred out when Nick retired. A lot of the star guys moved to the NFL obviously. Those left have used up their eligibility since then. Outside of Latham that missed all of last season due to injury I can’t think of any Saban players left. I’m busy as hell at the moment though so it possible one or two more guys are still hanging around and I’m just overlooking them.
