"A mama's boy who couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag."
"A WAC loser living off his daddy's name."
"The Buzz Peterson of football."
"A poor man's Mike Shula."
"Ron Zook without the recruiting ability"
"He's got cute pants, but no chance."

These are just a few of the dandies I heard today on Knoxville radio from Vol fans. I realize that this is just the vocal minority, but this is how it always starts. He's received much more criticism today than the rest of his tenure combined.

With four games against top 15 teams coming in the next five weeks, it is only going to get much worse. Dooley is really going to begin to feel the heat.

Right or wrong, I think he's going to realize that he'll be coaching for his job next year.

Remember Dave Hart did not hire Dooley, Hamilton did.

I think Dooleys destiny lies outside of Knoxville. I think you guys needed him after the train wreck from the Kiffin debacle but he won't last at Tennessee.

Gotta compete for the SEC next year.

Everyone knew this wasn't the year and losing Hunter and Bray didn't help a thing.

I'm impressed with Dooley, but I think he's gonna have to recruit lights out to get things rolling. I haven't paid attention to UT recruiting since the Kiffin days so I have limited knowledge on how things are going in that aspect.

Dooley seems like a good guy. Too good for utenn. I hope they get rid of him and he goes somewhere and does real well. And utenn makes a horrible hire that sets them back several years. I hope lsu hangs seventy on them.

FWIW, I still have confidence in him.

Do they not realize that most of the thugs and headcases Kiffen recruited are no longer on the team? You have talent...they are just all freshmen and sophomores.

Dooley was 8-10th in the nation depending on the service in year one. 13-15 in year two. This year he will likely finish 8-10.

It's always the stupid part of our fanbase that is the most vocal.

DT and RB we are a ways away. Corner we are building depth, but it isn't talented enough. Everywhere else we are set up pretty well.

This. I think Dooley is a class guy and hope he has some success. Just been a bad draw this year and having to clean up some messes left behind.

eta - you should be out having fun.

Whew, for a minute there I thought you were doing a thread about NBamaAlum, and I as an Auburn poster would have to stand up on his behalf. So glad it was Dooley.

I like Dooley and I think with a few more years he will get Tenn turned around. The problem is Kiffin fricked the program up so bad, no coach in America would have been able to right the ship in two years. It sucks for him, but he's just going to be the rebound guy in the Tennessee program, and the next coach in 2013 will get all the credit.

Pretty much my thinking as well. Dooley would do well at UGA with a good DC and OC but it doesn't look like Richt will be going anywhere any time soon.
