-Bama was 118th in the country in penalties this season including 13 against Auburn on Saturday.

-Bama has missed 101 field goals in the last 13 years, most in the nation.

Bama still finished 10-2 and in the top 10, so don't cry for Alabama. Any school in the country would take that for a "down" year.

Thanks to Pat Dooley and Judd Davis for the stats.

Don't expect better next year.

The alpha dogs that we should have had on the field were stuck on the sidelines in casts and braces. Most undisciplined Saban team ever.

Alabama allowed 25.4 points per game to SEC teams - their highest in a season under Saban.

That’s a great excuse and all but it’s not like other teams weren’t starting freshmen and Bama’s freshmen were all rated as 4 stars at the very least.
I’m not saying it wasn’t a factor, but it wasn’t THE REASON.

Agreed. We had some undisciplined players this year (looking at you Diggs and Lewis), but the defense really suffers when you lose an alpha like Moses. Probably wasn’t THE reason, but it contributed greatly to the problem, in addition to subpar coaching

just wait until Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith, Harris, and Tua are gone on offense next year and Mac Jones or a freshman are leading that offense.

Bama played two top 25 teams and lost both games. Anyone can win 10 games vs scrubs.

Seems like he did pretty good against Auburn. Waddle is back next year and hopefully Smith too.

Anyway none of them were really leaders. Najee isn’t really the alpha type and the WRs don’t really lead much. Tua was but the team really respects Mac too

Actually it is the main reason. Bama vs LSU was a close game. How would LSU have performed without Joe Burrow vs Alabama and Auburn?

With a crew of all-american caliber receivers he won't have next year and a running back who has been one of the best backs in the league the second half of the season. He also threw 2 pick sixes. He didn't do terribly, but will he be able to do it with almost an entirely new cast of skill players?

1. Jeudy didn’t do shite

2. Waddle was the main catalyst and he’s back next year

4 true freshmen in the defensive front 7

"Not once during any of his first 12 seasons at Alabama did Nick Saban have more than one true freshman starting on a full-time basis in his front seven.

Typically, there hasn’t been even a single true freshman within that starting front seven.

That’s what makes the Crimson Tide’s current situation so crazy.

When Alabama takes the field against Southern Miss on Saturday, more than half of the players in that front seven could be true freshmen."

That isn't your typical injury luck.

Early practice reports were that Trey Sanders was the best running back on the team. He suffered an injury and missed the entire year.

Tua, as elite a qb as he is when healthy, has had horrible injury luck, as any casual college football fan knows. He played injured vs LSU and then, when he went down for the rest of the season, Alabama couldn't score enough to cover for the crappy defense.

I am not a young guy and I have never, ever, seen one team suffer such bad injury luck in a single season.

But you are right that the injuries on defense would not have been as devastating if those true freshmen had been coached up by the end of the year. That didn't happen and the situation was exacerbated by poor defensive scheming and play calling. Hopefully that problem will soon be gone.

Ruggs and Smith did. That's kind of the point. When one receiver has had a down game, one of the other 3 has picked it up.

He was in the Auburn game. What about the 11 other games Alabama played? Truth be told, he's pretty non-existent on offense in most games. He typically has made his mark on special teams, which is nice, but without an elite QB like Tua and/or a group of multiple elite receivers/backs, I think most would expect the Alabama offense to take a step back next season. Losing your elite QB, RB, and 3 WRs is not going to be offset by Jaylen Waddle

Nope, he should declare so the Saints can draft him.

10-2 should never be considered a failure, just a testament of how good Saban has been.

A lot of young players got experience on Defense. Without Tua and the WRs the makeup of the team will be different, but I expect Bama to be as tough as anyone next year.

That the opposing defense had to often double team Jeudy opened routes for all the other receivers. Jeudy will be the first receiver taken in the NFL draft.
