If A&M gets LSU, Arkansas, and Texas every year it's great. If we don't get all 3 it's a giant ball of shite.

Until Texas AD Chris Del Conte approves it...it isn't happening.

9 games is weird because half the conference is going to have 4 conference home games and the other half will get 5 conference home games. I'm sure it will flip annually but I it'll still be weird.
We should just jump to 10 conference games and be done with it.

Texas and Del Kunte don't mean shite in the SEC. You have as much pull or less than Mizzou.

It's coming all these out of conference games getting canceled.

Chris will get his marching orders and follow them like a good little boy.

Analysis..pros cons? Don't care about unbalanced home away

Of course, to me the real problem is the idea that we should be too worried about competitive balance in selecting the 3 for each team. If you play every team every other year, the identity of the 3 that you play every year isn't going to move the needle very much on how tough your schedule is. If you've got 3 tough permanent opponents, your slate of rotating opponents isn't going to be as formidable.

It happens every year In the B10. 4 games on the road one year, 5 games on the road the next year. You just have to schedule out of conference games accordingly to balance the number of home games you have.

I like it , the less non power 2-3 or whatever it is now , games we have , is alright by me. Those group of 5 games were great for the team to scrimmage and for 3rd/4th stringers to play but we always (AU) managed to take it to the wire or lose to them bc we weren’t paying attention and looking ahead to the next weeks game.

I'm not concerned about Carolina having to play an ACC rival outside of 10 SEC games either - don't care at all to watch SC play Old Dominion - Akron - Wofford in 2024 -
I'd be fine playing SEC 10 + Clem along with a Soul Bowl every year against SCSU - and watch the Marching 101 at halftime

I say play 10 SEC games with each team having 2 perms and rotate the other 8. That gives you 5 home, 5 away and all the people that have this wierd obsession with seeing vandy and South Carolinas campus get to do that.

Please play 9. Would be amazing and get rid of the stupid FCS games

Exactly….you can see it coming. That’s why all the regular season Power 5 games with schools from other conferences are getting cancelled. One bad thing is, when we DO go to 9 conference games, the 3 non conference opponents are going to be worse than ever. SEC teams, or most of them, won’t be able to afford to play non conference teams with a pulse. They’re just not gonna take a chance on losing one of those 3 games.

In the new era of the NIL and all the demands for money, it’s necessary.

Not necessarily. With the playoff expansion, you have probably one more loss in the margin of error. A 10-2 or 9-3 team will have their chances to make a run in the playoffs. The Power 5 non-conference matchups draw too much revenue to just nix it.
