Miami appears to have a legit run D and they were fired up and hitting hard. Perine is really good and didn't get enough carries. Mullen and co. tried to give the game away by letting Felipe continue to throw. I expect their numbers on the ground to increase as they move forward.

The OL actually only gave up 1 sack last night and gave Franks more than plenty of time to throw.

I expect the run blocking to improve, and I think it’s easier to improve that than pass blocking.

Having said that, it probably doesn’t matter because we aren’t going anywhere with Franks.

They are not physical on the front line and of course that is a no go in this league. No runee, no winee.

UF never really committed to trying to run the ball, which I thought was weird.

Perine is by far their best back and he only got 10 carries for 42 yards. So he was going at 4.2

That was my biggest question mark after the game.

Perine is an established SEC back. I was as surprised as Spurrier and the announcers that Mullen let Franks throw on that last interception.

I was expecting 3 runs, or at the very least 2 runs and a pass of the two runs were ineffective.

Florida needed to drain the clock and Felipe gave Miami another chance to win a game they’d already practically lost.

Have you seen their schedule? Not a single remaining opponent is currently ranked. Not one.

I'm starting to wonder if this is just the Mullen system. Last year against Kentucky the RB only had 4 touches the entire first half.

Now we were stacking the box daring Frank's to throw but still.. 4 carries?

Not giving up 10 sacks a game, they won’t!!

They don't play another ranked team on their schedule, and the only team talent wise that compares with them is FSU, which is in even worse shape than Miami.

Miami was the #4 team in total D last year. Returned 6 starters and have talent.

Diaz is also a pretty talented defensive mind and is familiar with Mullens' offense and playcalling. He did work on Cousin Eddie's staff a couple of times.

With all summer to prepare, I'm not overly surprised that UM's D was able to shut down some of the things UF wanted to do. Also, Franks' lack of progression in reading Ds, decision making, and accuracy are continuing to hold UF back and limit options, which didn't hurt UM's defensive performance either.

think the story of the game was turnovers though. I mean, if UF doesn't fumble an exchange they probably go up 14-3 and the game gets out of control.

That stuff cuts both ways... if Miami doesn’t muff a punt on the 10 YL and gift UF a TD, they probably win the game.

Had either team played a clean game (limited turnovers and penalties), they would’ve won by at least two scores... but that’s how it goes.

Explain. Keep in mind UF's OL are all upper classmen and have been through the S&C program for a few years.

THis isn't like starting 2 true freshman OL like Miami.

Georgia fans just learned how to read today I guess. No way you could read this summer because you would have never passed up all the articles written about our offensive line being a weak spot. So congrat's on passing first grade.

I never saw Perine as some top Sec back. Good but not great. And Miami D is legit

I will explain, because I agree with him. Run blocking is the hardest in which to improve because there is less technique involved and it is more about being able to kick someone's arse or not. Run blocking is easy and all offensive linemen love to do it because they can be aggressive and lay the wood to the DL. Pass blocking is more about quickness and balance. You will get the occasional, bull rush, but those are usually easily stymied.

Also all the Gator fans who point to the OL not giving up sacks, have to give Franks some credit for that. He avoided sacks on multiple Occasions. Of course the last one he should have taken the sack rather than throw the pick.

Perrine is one of the top SEC backs, but I wouldn't say great. He is the only one who was about to muster any yards last night.

You shouldn't put THAT much stock into rankings in the first week of the season. Miami could finish the season 10-2 for all we know.

They have to before it turns out one is really good. You would think they would be smarter and trying hyping one of the only 2 real teams they play.

The OL legitimately did very well in pass protection.

I'm not sure why people keep understating this.

Franks avoided 2 sacks that I can remember.

Against Miami's front 7, UF's OL played about as well as possible in pass protect situations.
