That’s what I would be worried about as a Florida fan headed in to sec play.
1.9 yard per attempt average.
An SEC team with 52 yards on the ground against an unranked acc team. Wow.

They seemed to have no power back. Just a speed back and the only play they ran was the jet sweep.

Wow is for someone who actually tries to validate preseason rankings. If it were week 6 or so you'd have a point.

You’re right I don’t remember them even trying to run inside and their big TD to start the game was a pass to the rb ?

You shouldn't put THAT much stock into rankings in the first week of the season. Miami could finish the season 10-2 for all we know.

Gonna be a problem once you get into SEC play with the big boys.

Give Miami credit though...they have a good front 7 but not better than AU,LSU and UGA.

Don't worry, I've checked with some Gator fans:

"Miami gave us their best shot"
"The best teams never come out very good in week 1, they continually improve"
"This game couldn't have been more perfect for Mullen. Get a win and keeps the team focused"
"If Miami plays like this every week, they are a top 25 team."

We know Miami isn't finishing the season 10-2

I was thinking that Franks was garbage until I saw they ran for 54 yards.

Sec defenses are going to have 5 deep and make Franks look even worse.

Miami’s defensive line was disciplined. Florida’s offensive line and RB’s lacked explosiveness.

UF was concerned about their o-line this season and it showed.

Wanna know why their O-line sucks? His name is John Hevesy and he’s not going anywhere as long as Mullen is there.

UF never really committed to trying to run the ball, which I thought was weird.

Perine is by far their best back and he only got 10 carries for 42 yards. So he was going at 4.2

I guess UF decided that the way to beat Miami was through the air?

I mean, it worked. Barely.

I think the story of the game was turnovers though. I mean, if UF doesn't fumble an exchange they probably go up 14-3 and the game gets out of control. Then they fumble a toss. The running game was a mess, a lot of that was on the QB. Shocker. Franks is such an idiot.

UF only gave up 1 sack though and 5 TFL. That was nice. Especially against such an aggressive defense.

That was the most baffling part of the game plan for me. Perine was running the ball well, why not continue to feed him, especially in the second half when Miami's defense was beginning to show signs of wear and tear?

Miami's front 7 is better than a lot of SEC teams.

Still no excuse for no run game last night,

They went against a top 3 front 7 in CFB. It was disappointing, but we'll have a few games to allow the OL to gel before playing another elite D in September.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were averaging 200 yards per game by that point.

Mullen's playcalling is a joke at times.

Other than the lack of tackling, Miami's D isn't terrible. But once Florida hits SEC play and have to go up against LSU, Auburn and UGA, they're going to have a tough time. I can see them having a tough time against Mizzou and Vandy, two well-coached defenses.
