It's only the second full week of May. Way to early to be posting this stuff.

South Carolina at 82? Ouch x 1000
That seems hard to do in a league this strong where you can just lose and lose and lose like Alabama and stay at 40.

is baseball almost over yet?

Is RPI used to determine who makes the tournament? I was watching the Ole Miss-State game yesterday for a bit, and they were projecting SEC teams in the tournament. They said the Vols "still had work to do." Seems odd with that RPI.

For Mizzou, yes.

Very impressed with the BaseVols.
They gave you a ton of shite on here about the team falling apart when conference play rolled around.
I saw last week where the toughest schedules in the country by opponent's winning percentage had Vandy at #1 and Tennessee at #3.
Playing great with a tough schedule.

IMO, if a team has a losing season in the SEC they do not deserve an NCAA bid. This would apply to the team I follow, LSU.

The RPI is definitely a major tool the NCAA uses, but teams still get left out with good RPIs. In 2011, LSU finished the season 36-20 overall and a 13-17 SEC record. They had the #21 RPI but did not make the NCAAT. The Vols still have work to do because they still only have 12 SEC wins. There have been a few teams over the years make the NCAAT with 13 SEC wins, but I do not believe any team has made the field with only 12. That is why there are those that have said Tennessee still has work to do. They play Ole Miss this weekend, which is not an easy series for them.

RPI has more of an impact on seeds and hosting.

Easily the most impressive 10th place team I’ve seen in a long time.

Not as important in baseball. And we can thank our own SEC for that. The NCAA got tired of the league self-inflating our own numbers by playing each other.
Kentucky was the first to pay for it last year, . Even worse was the fact that the next 7 teams behind them all made it.
For an SEC team it's basically just win 14 and you're in, win 13 and you need a great resume, win less than 13 and you're not making it

Well Tennessee is at 10 RPI and is projected as a 3 seed out in Oregon State in the latest Baseball America projections, so I don't think so.

negative. LSU had a top 25 RPI in 2011 and missed the field. The reasoning from the selection committee was it was because they missed the SECT. The SEC responded by expanding the SEC tournament from 8 to 10 teams (and then again to 12 teams). I wish I could find the graph that was posted last year with all of this information.

Dang, I wouldn't have thought that. I was trying to remember what the announcers were saying on SECN this weekend.

Yeah they're not always correct with some of their random factoids. I obviously remember because my team was involved, which was really funny because back in 2006, the inverse argument was used for State getting in over LSU when State missed the SECT. State had a worse SEC record, missed the SECT but beat LSU in their series earlier in the season. There are LSU fans that still hate Ron Polk to this day because of the 2006 snub (he was on the committee then)
In fact, the highest RPI ever to miss the NCAAT was UNC in 2016. They had an RPI of 19, a 34-21 overall record, 13-17 record in the ACC, and were 14-16 vs Q1 teams
