The NIT rules they're testing this year are so much better. The last five minutes wasn't a painful trade off of free throws.
When will the rest of CBB adopt this?

Hopefully so. So much better.

Possibly next year. They've tried out some new rules in the NIT the past few years and some of them have been implemented. They usually try a lot and pick a couple.
The rule I most want to be implemented is what they did in the Basketball Tournament last summer with the target score. At the end of regulation, they add 7 points to the score of whoever is ahead, and whichever team reaches that score first wins. For example, if a game ended 72-70, the target score would be 79 and whoever got 79 first would win the game.
This eliminates the buzzer beater because there is no buzzer, and it also stops teams from fouling a lot at the end of games because you're not trying to beat the clock. Instead of a foul fest you would play defense like you did for the rest of the game.
It's fricking wonderful but will probably not happen for a long time because it's such a drastic change. It would make for better games though, especially the ends of games.

The spacing created by wider lanes and an extended three point line is also marvelous. Plus that three point line might discourage poor shooters from jacking up threes and hopefully cut down on the overall number of attempts. I’ve watched countless games this season in which the trailing team could’ve gotten back in it but for taking eight million threes in an attempt to get it all back at once.

I agree they need to move the three point line back. It's too easy to shoot threes. The TV angles make it look harder but when you're down on the floor behind the three point line it's not that far. Everyone in this thread could make an open three pretty easily.

No.

It's much easier to watch to. Let's me take a break from the action for a few minutes. So much better.

WTF is this shite? NCAA is ran by snowflakes if they implement this. Only a Hog fan would hope for a participation trophy.

I love it. Hope all of CBB adopts it

I can’t agree with Stone on that one, I’d rather them play 5 ots than that. But shut up.

I hate participation trophies, but I do not even remotely see the analogy you are trying to make. There would still be a winner and loser.

It may be just me, but I don't get the point here. If a game ends 72-70, then shouldn't the team with 72 just win? There is no need for an "overtime" unless it ends in a tie, right?
Let's not just make up rules to frick up the game more.

Idk, without having seen 4, 10's played before, I love the second half of games. So many stories play out in the final 20 mins it's like watching a movie

I don't see Vegas being happy with this.

You're right, you don't get the point and it's not just you. For a game to end 72-70, sometimes the final minute takes 10 minutes with the trailing team fouling immediately and everyone walking up the floor to shoot free throws. It's agony and ruins the ends of games. This totally eliminates that scenario.
