I think we may have tried to bring full band when we played at Texas in 2019, but they’re all raging assholes over there, so we brought nothing.
We brought a pep band to Texas in 2019. Texas's stadium was under construction and couldnt accomodate our full band. We took the full band to Vandy in 2019. The band made zero regular season trips in 2020 or 2021 due to an excuse you can guess. They did go to the Texas bowl though.

It always surprises me that ya'll never take ya'lls full band to Tuscaloosa. Thats always a pretty big game. Doesn't bama always take their full band to BR?

Actually they were booed
I wasn't there, but I've heard it was for playing during an Auburn injury, continuing to play when play resumed and taunting the crowd when the score turned. Must have been something, because I've never heard a JH crowd boo a band.

Kudos for #32 recognizing something was wrong.

I couldnt really say if Bama brings their full band to LSU, or really what goes into deciding which game the LSU administration chooses to take the full band. I'm sure there are a lot of logistical things that go into it that I have no idea about.

I'm referring to the halftime performance, at which point Auburn was winning. My guess is whoever told you that was wrong.
I cant really speak to the injury thing. That wasn't something i noticed but i can't say for sure either way.

Our previous Athletic Director (whom we all hated) tried to get the SEC to prevent full bands traveling to opposing conference venues. Connected people that I know figure it was because he wanted an excuse for not paying for the full Tiger Band to travel. As I understand it, Tiger Band didn't travel as a full band for several years in the last decade. (Even when I was in Tiger Band, we only traveled as a full band to one away game out of state each year. We also did one Saints game on a weekend we had a home game and always traveled for away Tulane games. ETA: We also traveled to Jackson every year for our games against Ole Miss and State until those teams started playing us on their campuses in 1988.)
He's also the guy responsible for reversing the "away band goes first" convention in Tiger Stadium when his full band prohibition plan didn't go through (no way Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and Georgia were going to stop having their bands travel for those traditional games). He made up some "there was some trouble between the bands" fable to justify that. I was actually surprised Auburn had their band go first last Saturday.
Hope that helps. I think both bands were great Saturday night.

And then the Auburn fanbase booing the targeting penalty after Banks got carted off the field.
You know that official was giving the booth a bunch of WTF when they told him to call that. He didn't look to thrilled about it.

I was at the game and didn't notice Auburn fans booing during the halftime. They weren't exactly excited by Tiger Band's decision to play Pregame in their stadium, but I was sitting in the LSU section and didn't really hear boos.

After Emory's long catch to the 2 right before halftime, an Auburn player went down in the middle of the end zone and while he was down, LSU fans started chanting "L S U, L S U, . . . " Auburn fans booed this cheering while one of their players was down, a sentiment that I agree with (I did not participate in the cheers.) Note: CBK was furious about the player being down, as he was not involved in the action and it could have looked like he took a dive so that Auburn would get an extra time out. Most couldn't see that in the stadium but it was clearly shown on TV.

They played pregame at the end of the halftime show. The boos happened right as they were announced to begin the show, so they werent booing lsu playing pregame.

Gotcha. I actually was walking when that play happened to get to midfield so i could watch the bands performance. So i did indeed miss that. I saw the play on the concessions TV, but that was all.

That was very scary. It was good to hear that he was okay. You could hear a pin drop in the stadium.

Wow. Unreal. The Marching Bands are a part of what makes college football special and different than the NFL. I can't believe that athletic director would try to limit that. LSU has a great/entertaining band. Auburn always takes their full band to Tuscaloosa, Athens, Baton Rouge and sometimes Gainesville and Knoxville when we play UT and UF.

Meet Joe alleva. The man who somehow managed to make tiger stadium the worst food in the SEC, corporatized anything to do with lsu for the sake of the dollar, and practically told fans to frick off when they voiced displeasure with it.

No doubt. That dude did not seem too thrilled about having to make that announcement.

Yep.
Sure, LSU fans have a well-earned reputation for hating our own employees, but Aleva deserved it in full.
Why we ever hired him, I will never know.

How can this happen in Louisiana?

My first year in Tigerband (1986) we played the Saints home opener in New Orleans, traveled as a whole band to Gainesville, and then again to Jackson, MS where we played State on a neutral field that year. I think we might have traveled to two away games as an entire unit the following year, but I can't remember with certainty.
The band and it's traditions have evolved and changed a decent little bit since the days when Frank Wickes was the director. Not sure whether the decision to limit travel by the full band was made by the athletic dept or the music dept. Band members only get one hour of credit for Tigerband and travel to away games can put an ugly dent in a kid's GPA if they're not careful.
