If it is a problem at every school, including UGA as you have already admitted and the numbers validate, why do all UGA threads relating to football end up with academic arguments against other SEC schools?

They shouldn't, but I feel like they're usually just digs in response to other shite talking from opposing fans.

Alabama says it does not keep records

Auburn says it is still processing our request for information

Florida denied our requests, saying it does not keep records

Kentucky denied our request,

LSU...125 students playing football or basketball were specially admitted, meaning they would not have been admitted on academics alone.

Old Miss...Football -- 22/346 scored below the threshold.
Men's basketball -- 8/44 scored below the threshold.

Missouri denied our requests,

Texas A&M...We found that 29 scored below the threshold. That's about 25%.

SCjr acknowledged it received CNN's request in October, but has since not responded to requests for a status update.

They need to be teaching these kids more life skills than ramming quadratic equations down their throat.

Actually those are called trade schools. If you want to work in HVAC or whatever, those schools exist. The purpose of math and other courses is to teach how to think, not what to think.

We aren't talking about one student in one class room.

I volunteered in an inner city school and the lack of respect and the distance they were behind was unbelievable. Learning was almost a sign of weakness for some of the boys specifically.

This. In other countries, learning and being smart is lauded and is seen as a great achievement. In the US, it seems that learning and being smart is seen as "uncool" and socially unacceptable. It is as if being an idiot is a source of pride. It is a huge problem with our society, and this country will always fall behind as a result.

There's a thread on the MSB about North Carolina basketball and football players not being able to read above a third grade level, and they're supposed to be one of the best public universities in the country.

More like I don't need them to sit around getting paid to read tigerdroppings.

Except Uga fans like to act like their school is above this until y'all are hit with the hard truth. Then the mantra changes to everyone does it.

Auburn says it is still processing our request for information. The university estimates it could take several months before it provides CNN with an answer. We will update this page when we get it.

It's not a problem with our society, it's a problem with our lower class. In other countries it's seen as a great thing to go to college and advance from poverty, over here it means being an Uncle Tom or fig/whatever. People celebrate being ignorant and trashy now, and you can thank TV and music for a good bit of that.

So UGA is still a pillar of honesty and integrity.

It's a multi-year report I believe.

I'm sure a few smart athletes attend LSU here and there.

I never said they were. Try not to be so sensitive. Don't take offense to the fact that at least a small fraction of Alabama athletes would have made it into school without athletic ability

As someone else pointed out earlier, College Literate, and Illiterate are not the same thing. They are factoring in Math scores as well.

I'm a bunch of years removed from High School/College. I probably would tank on an SAT math section now as I have never needed to use any of those equations for any job I've ever held. And I think that's a problem with public education. They need to be teaching these kids more life skills than ramming quadratic equations down their throat.

I would completely agree with that. There are some people that are not meant to go to college but can learn a trade and make good money.

My wife is a teacher. Basic math is not taught as much as it should be and teachers are pressured to teach to whatever standardized test the students have to take.

I'm replying to NYCAUBURN.

But yeah I could have played better than some did this year.
