This for the most part

Exactly. If you have the money they'll take you.

I can probably name at least a handfull of UA players between 2008-2010 that were borderline illiterate just from the one class I had with them.

Speaks a lot more to the ineptitude of the public education system in this country, specifically southeastern states. I could read by the time I started school, I find it hard to believe that teachers that give half a shite couldn't teach a kid to read in 13 years. (Then again, they aren't paid enough to give half a shite)
Morally, I don't find a problem with schools keeping these kids eligible. At least it gives them a shot to make lives for themselves in professional football

Because our administration is smart enough to not just hand over information immediately .. Let the other schools embarrass themselves first when the story breaks then quietly release ours in a couple of months

it's about what I expected and probably statistically accurate with how easy it is to get into school at OM
Its not just OM, If you can run, throw, or catch really well.... you can and will get into a institute of higher learning somewhere.

LSU provided a little info, but it wasn't much and it wasn't pretty..

They should be asking themselves this

This is particularly what I don't understand. I read The Iliad in 8th grade on my own (because of a disenchantment with The Odyssey) and had been reading for months beforehand.
How on Earth does a person go through life without learning how to read in America?

COLLEGE literate. Not just literate (can read). Massive difference.

Schools aren't supposed to be the ones teaching kids to read. That's the parents job. The schools are there to enhance the kids reading ability.
Many kids' parents are failing them. Not the schools. The schools have issues but how can a school be expected to teach a building full of neglected kids everything?

this is one reason I'm not interested in personal lives of CFB players - like others seem to be

this is embarrassing
Why? Do you guys know that kids with dyslexia and learning disorders are often gifted in other things such as athletics? A couple of our best athletes in our 11-12yo kids are dyslexic.
My own son has a touch of it he can read and loves history but has trouble with math. He can tell you the winner and loser of every Superbowl and the score. He is also one helluva football and baseball player.
So before you judge someone it may not be their fault for their reading failures.

Winston was better than that kid that committed to AM on UA game last week.
I know that guy doing interview was thinking to himself, dude can you speak in complete sentences? Do you talk like that on purpose.
It's embarrassing the way many blacks talk.

When your parents don't give a shite about your education and your school is a glorified baby sitting system, it can be difficult to learn and progress. It's a problem that is rampant for black majority districts in the south.

The question is do universities care enough about the integrity of their school to allow this? Apparently Georgia doesn't and I imagine it's that way among many if not all of the historical powerhouses.
Fans don't care, either. How many Notre Dame fans went to Notre Dame? 10%?

College football players are eaten up with dyslexia then.

Except Uga fans like to act like their school is above this until y'all are hit with the hard truth. Then the mantra changes to everyone does it.

If you find that a student can't even write a basic sentence, don't you have an obligation to help them? 12 years of big boy school and not one teacher can help the kid?
