There are many things in this thread that are apparent. A couple are your assumption that I was in Alabama's public education system (K-12) and your approval of LA's government.

Idiot…you should pluralize your use of the word “assumption” since it follows and describes the word “couple”, which indicates plurality….if you are a product of private Alabama schooling, then that’s even worse

No ... about 35%.

The rest is tourism and manufacturing. But let's be clear about your premise.

Strom Thurmond vowed that SC would never suffer from limited mfg and lack of military resouces again, after the War of Northern Aggression. He was raised by family who suffered through the righteous indignation of reconstruction. His family lands and wealth were pillaged and pilfered by carpet baggers.

He spent his life building up SC's military infrastructure and manufacturing.

Fort Jackson
Paris Island
Sumter AFB
Chas Naval Weapons Station
MB AFB
Chas AFB
Chas NSY

Then there's Force Protection in his hometown of Edgefield.

Bell Helicopter has key component mfg facilities here.

General Dynamics has key component mfg facilities here.

Fabrique Nationale mfgs billions of dollars of small arms here including SAWs.

PSA mfgs 100s of 1000s of small arms here.

ARMS mfgs millions of rounds of military grade ammo here.

SOPAKCO produces 70% of our military's MREs here, in Bennettsville.

Strom set us up ... next Civil War, we're much better equipped than the first one.

Plus we have Bragg and Lejuene just across our border to our north. We'll take NC first during our march to the north.

We have the largest per capita veteran base in the country.

So yeah, 35% of our GDP is military related. We like that. We're a gladiator state.

We're a sleeping giant.

Ten years from now, thanks to Trump and Vance, we'll be the frickin' Winterfell of The South. Five growing seasons, huge meat producing agriculture base, massive military industrial capabilities, a couple million men to man the castle and the finest commanders to lead the men.

The state of Louisiana may be losing population, but the area of Louisiana, that I live in has tripled in population over the past 20 years and continues to grow.

The population in Alabama is just spread out. (Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville and Mobile). We have the population to have a mega-city (like Denver) but we're just not concentrated enough in a big metro area.

Huntsville/Madison is #1 in the state. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach is right behind it.

Hmmmm. Depends on where you are in Alabama. Huntsville/Madison area, Auburn, Birmingham suburbs all have great public schools.

I’m an engineer also, chemical engineer by education…no hard feelings, I just like to protect my state and remind all you losers that Louisiana can kick your arse both physically and linguistically.

The North Texas metro area is closing in on 8.3 million people, bigger than all but Georgia and Florida.

I need to move.

Louisianan here ... yes it's not great. It could be sooooooo much better, but the leadership is always egoistic and moronic

Looking to leave in the next 3-5 years myself

Carolina alumni are exempt, and OK to repatriate, right?

I've been out of SC for far too long. Still would love to move back one day.

Let’s be fair… Alabama isn’t much better.

Pretty sure Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana regularly compete for “Most Corrupt Government” awards.

People don’t realize NYC is the 49th biggest city in the world at 8.3m.

Tokyo is largest at 37.2m

Alabama and Mississippi's governments have plenty of issues and aren't great.

They are Plato's Republic compared to Louisiana.
