Hard to imagine Cohen brought Levis in to sit the bench. I get the impression Allen is still more QB of the future. Stoops talked up Gatewood at Media Days.

WTF knows at this point.

It’s good to be king

If you look closely, he’s holding up the number of wins Jimbo will have over LSU after this year

I'll be shocked if it isn't Levis.

Max Johnson is a total gamer especially as a true freshman. But I bet Brennan wins the job as someone who opens up the offense downfield. Just a guess with no actual info

TAMU - King. Now all he has to do is live up to that last name.

LSU - Johnson, they can't run the football and there is almost zero physicality in that 11 and 10 personnel look they keep putting on the field. Brennan will get bogged down in the red zone. Johnson's wheels will talk Orgeron into the difference.

Tennessee - Joe Milton. Guessing, but the vols have no defense and what does exist will get hung out to dry for 4 quarters. Batman needs points and the vols want a track meet every game.

Kentucky - Does it matter? It's been their style of play that has dictated offensive success. Whoever is the best game manager. No turnovers and stupid decisions.

They have an entirely new offense. Their new OC is Liam Coen who came from the LA Rams. They'll run a version of the McVay offense.

Everyone thinks King, including me, will win the job. He's a very good runner, quick twitch athlete, can lead the offense, and has enough arm talent. Calzada is a live dog though. He's got a howitzer strapped to his shoulder. Stowers isn't there yet, but he'll get his shot eventually but will have to go through Weigman & Holstein to get it.

Compare him to a few SEC guys from high school combines.

Tank Bigsby
40: 4.55
Vert: 34.9
Shuttle: 4.34

Jase McClellan
40: 4.59
Vert: 39.6
Shuttle: 4.04

A few from a few years back

Nick Chubb
40: 4.47
Vert: 40.8
Shuttle: 4.12

Christian Kirk
40: 4.49
Vert: 36.3
Shuttle: 4.15

That said, Stoops has one hell of a system going and how much he's willing to give up to get a more innovative offensive established remains to be seen.

In my opinion, Stoop has overachieved with a really consistent program, smart recruiters, and they have a nice system in place. But that has meant playing to their defense. This has got the Kirby Smart syndrome written all over it except Kentucky is still looking for a starting QB to sound it down.

When you are willing to change your business model I guess conviction is everything. Athens and Lexington should be interesting this season.

Jimbo does this exact thing and you praise him for it

Kirby realized that shite doesn't work anymore so at least he went out and hired a new OC more versed in spread/Air Raid principles.

Didn't I just praise Mike Stoops? The guy has arguably the most consistent program going for his talent level. He has a system and it works.

The difference between what Kentucky is trying to do as opposed to TAMU or even Georgia is TALENT.

If Georgia or TAMU get it wrong it might mean a couple more losses. If Kentucky screws it up they don't make it to a bowl.

I think it is King's to lose and his ceiling is extremely high. I actually think his shuttle time is the most impressive and important, that shiftiness and quickness is key more than top end speed.

That said I would watch out for Eli. He actually fits the Jimbo ideal even better than King physique wise but I don't know that he can overtake him.

You know it's rough when your talking point about your quarterback is his vertical and shuttle time.

That's my thought. We have the potential to be an elite passing offense with Brennan in.

You probably lose that with Johnson.

I dont think we're gonna go that wild with things.

We're still going to be a run first power kind of team. CRod is a beast and we are going tonuse him early and often.

When teams sell out to stop the run thebfocus now is on having guys get those medium and deep routes to loosen the D.

I do expect to see a lot more 2TE sets with Coen. But I think based on how I've taken Stoops and Vince's comments (Coen hasn't really said much beyond broad coachspeak generalities in local media) we're maintaining that power run identity. We aren't about to sling it around the yard like the Blue Deuce is back under center againm
