Porter Osborne just pointed out that, Georgia is in fact, not overrated every year, and in general they finish better or the same as their preseason ranking.

Three data points were provided: one UGA was underrated (2017), one UGA was overrated (2018), and one was a push (2019).

So it seems like whether UGA is overrated annually or not is definitely open to interpretation. Maybe 2020 provides clarity. It seems like UGA is given the benefit of the doubt largely because of the roster and outside of 2017, you simply haven't won what you should have with it.

BUT, breaking in a new QB and a new OC (new offensive scheme?), and with Bama rotating on your schedule this year, the deck is decidedly stacked against you and that no. 4 ranking. We'll see what happens. My opinion is that you will finish ranked lower than 4 = overrated.

Completely agree. It's just something to give websites clicks and get people talking about CFB.

So you respond to homers by making an equally ridiculous statement? LSU has lost as many as 5 games twice in the past 20 years. If you wanted to make a point, it would have made more sense to say they've been a 10-2 to 9-3 program with championship seasons in between

Don't mind that guy... He completely disappeared from the SECr after LSU won the Peach Bowl & Natty

LSU being overrated has nothing to do with the fact UGA has been and still is the most overrated team of this decade

I'm not really worried about returning production. Most of our backups got significant playing time last year in big games

Then they are included in returning production.

Let’s take a look at how much returning production affected teams last year.

SEC Ranks:

Note that MSUjr, who was last in returning production last year, had an overall RP rate of 57%.

LSU is 42% overall.

Once again, I don’t understand how this is a shock to you guys. Alabama and Clemson are the only teams who aren’t shitty right after they win a Natty. Florida State, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida all have sucked after winning theirs.

Honestly I’m surprised LSU is even in the Top 5. You guys lost a ton. That’s usually what happens when you win a championship

What was LSU ranked last year and the year before in this preseason poll before spanking UGA on the field?

Again, the facts have been shown (not in this thread) that this isn't close to being true but you Rantards continue on saying it in hopes that it is. 247 had an article on teams in the last decade or so that proved this completely false. Go look it up since you made the wrong accusation.

It's pretty funny seeing how wrong they are every year.

Returning production takes into account a teams total yardage, tackles, sacks, deflection, interceptions, etc. and then determines what percent is returning.

In LSU’s case, not only are they losing multiple starters, but they are also losing a lot backups who got in a lot of games last year.

LSU is 129th in FBS in offense and 92nd in defense.

According to Connelly:

Clemson was 100th in returning production on defense last year. They finished 3rd in YPP in 2019.

Ohio St was 117th in returning production on offense last year. They finished 7th in YPP in 2019.

Preseason polls should be abolished. They mean absolutely nothing. Plus, there's no consistency on whether or not voters are voting for which team they think is better going into the season or if it's a projection of where they will finish. For me, the schedule is irrelevant because the rankings should reflect who the best team is at that point and not where you think they will finish.

Agreed 100%

I commented that UGA is overrated. I stand by that comment. I did not "complain" about UGA being ranked higher [than LSU is what I assume you mean].

This may shock you, but I can comment on one school's ranking irrespective of LSU's ranking.

They ultimately don’t mean squat with the playoff now. But won’t go away because of the story lines they create when the season starts.

Yeah, my point was him saying we were always "so overrated" and showing that we're not too far off the last 2 years. It's nitpicking to be honest.

You’re literally proving my point. LSU had a really high returning production percentage last year, which is why they were so much better than their preseason ranking.

They have the 2nd worst RP percentage in the country this year, which is why I firmly believe they will not even be close to the Top 10 this year.

You specifically stated "So overrated". Which is not true. Not even close.

Maybe, but the rest of your LSU bros in this thread sure did.

I think it's more of the latter than anything. Preseason polls have become a tradition to generate conversation among fans and the media.

So, your point is that LSU is better than Georgia and Orgeron is better than Kirby even though UGA starts out ranked higher? Cool.

They played an ACC schedule. Give me an SEC example.

Ohio St was 117th in returning production on offense last year. They finished 7th in YPP in 2019.

Big 10 schedule, and you are forgetting they had a transfer QB. Justin Fields was not included in RP%, even though he had a lot of experience.
