Here are the points Bama's offense scored against UGA in each quarter.
0, 24, 7, 3, 3, 6, 0, 9
Alabama scored 24 pts on 6 possessions (4.0 PPP) with Methchie/Williams on the field
Alabama scored 19 pts on 9 possessions (2.1 PPP) with Williams only on the field
Alabama scored 10 pts on 7 possessions (1.4 PPP) with neither on the field
LSU would have better WRs than Metchie/Williams plus other dudes and a more seasoned QB. LSU would have scored at least 31 and probably more along the lines of 38-41. Probably would have looked very similar to 2019 on that side of the ball. Georgia's offensive showing would have been much better in 2021, though.

To be honest I don't remember how good the LSU OL was in 2019.
They won the award for best unit in America. So I’d say they were at least pretty decent, although Burrow also helped them out a lot.

2019 LSU would have beaten 2021 Georgia by 3+ TDs, IMO.

It's a topic because I was curious to see what educated SEC fans thought of this match-up.

2011 LSU and 2011 Alabama were far better defenses

Alabama’s 2020 offense was better and featured three Heisman finalists.

Don’t worry. Homer lsu fans have numbers on this board, and they hate uga, while bama fans can’t stand losing national titles to one of saban’s assistants.
Advanced stats give uga 21 the edge over 19 lsu, so its not a stupid question to bring up.

I disagree with this to an extent in today’s game. Bama’s 2016 defense was the best to ever see a football field. And then DeShaun Watson happened & Clemson somehow ran 99 plays without committing a single infraction of any kind.

Bama 2020 also beat pretty much the same UGA team by multiple scores...

I have to agree with 8-time award winning poster Tuscaloosa on this one.

I was and have been a vocal advocate of Kirby since he was hired and adamantly claimed that UGA’s defense was elite - while other fans were proclaiming they hadn’t played anyone and were overrated. My vocal distain for all things LSU is widely noted, along with my criticisms of LSU’s 2019 team - which included a defense that didn’t rank inside the Top 25 in any major category.
LSU’s 2019 team would boat race UGA’s 2021 team. It is what it is.

Again you’re comparing all year to 2 games and 3 quarters. Blame Saban for bad coaching if that’s the hill you want to die on. But comparing your receivers being hurt most of the year to a 1st and 2nd round receivers being hurt in the SECCG and the NC isn’t close to the same thing. Let Bowers get hurt in the SECCG or NC and tell me your offense doesn’t do a 180?

Lol. No offense but changing gameplans happens in EVERY game. UGA changed their defensive gameplan after a disastrous second quarter against Bama in the SECCG and their defense gave up a total of 10 points in the second half. Bama changed their gameplan in the second half of the NCG in 2017's NC and won a title because of it. That's simply fiction saying that changing gameplans in the middle of a game doesn't happen. It's constant in almost every game. The big difference is UGA's second string WR's stepped up and Bama's didn't. It wasn't about changing a gameplan, it was about Bama's backups not being able to perform.
Changing a game plan in the middle of a game because it isn’t working with the same players you’ve had all year ? changing a game plan in the middle of a game because of major injuries. I know Georgia fans still want validation for this championship and I’ve never claimed injuries were a valid excuse for Bama losing. Georgia was the better team. But comparing Pickens and a bunch of unproductive wide receivers being in and out all year to 1st and 2nd round pic receivers going down in the 3rd to last game and last game is absolutely moronic.

Interesting that you think your offense would have scored more against the 2021 defense than they did against the 2019 UGA defense.
LSU had a 13 yard drive for a TD off a turnover. Besides that they scored 30 offensive points against UGA. The idea you think they'd have performed better against a better defense and a better offense from UGA in 2021 is kind of non-sensical.

never understand this talking point. One guy was on a snap count all year and barely played. The other was the team’s leading receiver by a huge margin and got injured last game of the year. Say it’s part of the game and theirs no excuses that’s fine. But comparing a guy who was coming off ACL injury and playing limited snaps to a guy who played the whole year then got hurt doesn’t correlate at all.
Bama was lucky Bryce never got hurt and jamo was available for 98% of the season. Uga didn’t have such luck with our badass duo.

If UGA loses the TE Bowers at any point in the natty, that offense comes to a complete standstill. Having a whole season to get guys ready is pretty different to having to do it on the fly.

Georgia scored the last 3 TDs of the game. That is a problem for Bamas pass rush and QB. Not wide receivers.

I don't mean this as a knock because that UGA defense was really, really good obviously. However, The 2019 LSU offense was significantly better than the Alabama offense last year and we saw on the field how that matchup went down would have gone down again if not for Metchie and Williams being out.
Even Bama's backup receivers were getting open they just couldn't catch the ball.
