2016 Alabama with Watson at QB by Big Balls

There were a few teams who were strong everywhere but QB. LSU was definitely one of them. If they had Watson at QB and kept everything else the same, they would have beaten Alabama this past year.

It's possible. What's weird Big Balls is that Orgeron had stomped everyone he played and averaged over 40 points and 600 yards, but it looks he reverted to Miles' offense against you guys.
To be fair though, Etling is not the best at avoiding pressure (at least not in that game :)

Stupid hypothetical. Pretty sure Auburn and Georgia were the only SEC schools that had any sort of real chance.

What if Auburn had Jalen Hurts and Johnathan Allen last year?

i don't always go upthread to hit reply directly on the post i'm responding to.

So, the OP asks if you took the best player in college football (at the most important position) and put him on the runner up's team who lost narrowly to the national champion (who had said player) would it have made a difference?

In this scenario, does Clemson get to keep Watson also or are they playing their second string guy?

you seem to be really concerned about irrelevant teams, then

I think it is a bigger issue than that, in some ways. An amazing quarterback is a great asset, no doubt.

However, at least in my memory, all too often a team becomes too dependent on that one component if it is exceptional.

That is always tricky. A bad night by the star qb and you see an upset no one saw coming.

I think teams like Alabama, which are more balanced and less qb dependent do better over the course of a season.

However, with the playoff system, it seems like you can be forgiven a really bad loss, so maybe that has changed.

If Bama had Deshaun Watson at QB this year, on the 2016 Bama squad, would teams like Ole Miss and LSU been able to keep it close?

If Saban had Ole Miss's talent and Freeze had Bama's would Bama been able to keep it close?

Well the early 2k Miami teams had More talent than his best Bama teams without question. And he already rarely loses. I couldn't imagine how good those teams would have been if we had real coaching. Coker should have been able to win at least 3 championships just with the talent Butch Davis assembled....but he crashed the ferrari.

Then why include LSU? Deep down you know that with a good QB, LSU beats bama this year.

And last year and the year before....
