And Gundy has done well but T Boone has been a game changer for Ok State since 2005. If T Boone had been doing that in 2003 or 2004 I'm not sure LSU could have lured Miles away from them.

Which part did you find funny?

The idea that giving hundreds of millions to Ok State since 2005 has changed the quality of their athletic program and university?

Or the idea that LSU might have had a harder time getting Miles if T Boone had been doing that before he left for LSU?

Only thing the consensus is agreeing with him on is LSU wasn't a good team last year.

LSU, a program with as many built-in advantages as anyone in the nation,

quote:

The Hat has maintained an elite level of success with four 10-win seasons in six years, including the 2007 National Championship. He brings energy, intensity and an internal rallying cry to his locker room. The players love him, and he is certainly an entertaining character. He is a fantastic recruiter who has assembled arguably the best roster in America. However, he has also developed another reputation based on bizarre eating habits, poor end-game management, vocal gaffes, and now, the worst BCS performance in the series’ 14-year history. Questions about his teams’ mental focus, discipline and overall ability to adjust were beginning to subside after the 13-0 romp through the regular season last fall. However, those issues resurfaced after the most under-prepared, poorly game-managed title game of the BCS era. Miles and Saban will be eternally linked the annals of SEC football, and relatively speaking, Miles is one of the better coaches in the nation. But in the Southeast, the stakes — and standards — are higher (sometimes unfairly so), and after LSU became the first and only two-loss team to win a BCS title, Saban has been the far superior coach. Miles has lost 12 games to Saban’s six since 2007, and with what could be perceived as the best roster in the nation, three losses per season isn’t getting it done.

Athlon = delusional Arkansas fans that make shite up.

he's been at LSU for seven years. With 75 wins and 18 losses he has a winning percentage of .806 at LSU - that's an average of 10.7 wins and 2.6 losses a year when there have been six straight teams from the SEC to win a national championship (and five of those losses are attributable to teams that won the BCS NCG).

He's done extremely well out of conference, won a couple SEC championships, won BCS bowl games, and had to do all this while competing every year against either Urban Meyer or Nick Saban.

I still think he badly bungled the BCS championship game this year - but that emotional response eventually gave way to reason and there's no question he's put LSU in position to play for the SEC and perhaps a NC again this year.

His persona is goofy and his clock management fiascos against Ole Miss, PSU, and Tennessee will always be fodder for mockery but you just can't look away from his results. When you do IMO you must conclude the guy really does know what he's doing and there just aren't many guys in the country who could do what he's been able to do at LSU.

I don't know how anyone can say Les Miles is 9. He's easily top 5 and he's better than Bob Stoops.

I personally think given the talent base, there are many coaches who would have a 75-18 record at LSU during the same tenure.

You don't?

Not sure Meyer deserves to be that high either. From here, he looker his fastball at FL. He will be going up against inferior competition though.
