LSUs defense has a decent chance of stopping 1995 Nebraska's offense a few drives.

Nebraska's defense doesn't have a prayer against 2019 LSUs offense. You can leave the punter back in BR. Burrow ends the game with 1,000 yards passing.

LSU got insane hot when it mattered most. SEC championship and 2 playoff games.

The defense was on fire against the other top two offenses and no one could shut down that LSU offense..

LSU would likely be favored in a hypothetical championship.

To be honest Nebraska is a much slower team and it's defensive back field could not keep up with LSU wr's.

Nebraska offense is not as good in the light of the offenses of today and the counters on defense used today.

Florida (Nebraska's best win) was mainly a one trick offense very vanilla compared to what you see today.

Miami is a better match of the two vs. LSU and would be a closer game.

As I’ve said before.....

Best Ever: 1995 Nebraska

Best Ever based on future NFL talent: 2001 Miami

Best Ever based on resume: 2019 LSU

The Top 10 teams from 1995 that you're talking about are Kansas, Kansas State and Colorado.

Colorado had been national champions in 1990 and had had a Heisman Trophy winner in 1994. Kansas crushed UCLA in their bowl game 51-30 that year and Colorado crushed #12 Oregon 38-6 in theirs. Kansas State had the nation's #1 defense that year and were also the last team to post three consecutive shutouts. Kansas State would also be in serious contention for the national championship in both 1998 and 1999.

Also...to call the Big 8 a joke is to be fairly ignorant of history. It was always a strong conference. I believe they remain the only conference to have three teams finish in the Top 3.

1971 Final AP Poll:

#1 Nebraska
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Colorado

It would be a VERY close game but in a shootout I think I'd give it to LSU... I was a swamp kitten fan but after O's post game speech,"we own them and we're gonna own their arse in recruiting", I began to despise then as much as Hilary Clinton...

With that said, the 2019 LSU certainly had the best season of all time and went through a murderous schedule in the process. My head says hats off to them but my heart says, frick em with a cactus w/out lube then leave em passed out in a hotel Andrew Gillum style....

Unlike most Bama fans, you are honest. Your worst day as a Bama fan was the day LSU fired Miles. Saban is the best ever, but coach O is much improved over Miles.

Nebraska would dominate the T.O.P and keep Joe Burrow off the field.

Just like LSU vs Florida. LSU ran 46 plays and scored 42 points.

You can't score if you don't have the ball. But those days are over.

LSU would have run blitz the shite out of Nebraska and dared them to throw the ball. 8-9 men in the box. Fulton and Stingley takes away the WHOLE passing game of Nebraska. Delpit and Jacoby Stevens in the box. Nebraska is TOAST.

Jefferson, Marshall, Chase, Moss would eat Nebraska's back end alive and God forbid Nebraska tries to cover Clyde out of the backfield with those slow arse LB's. So those saying Nebraska would control the clock, I don't think so. Hell, Tyler Shelvin would demand a double team, freeing up LB's.Game, Set, Match LSU.

He’s using the Ole Miss game as his logic behind saying Nebraska would be no match for us, completely ignoring the fact that we then went on to shut every team down and make life miserable for Mond, Fromm, Hurts and Lawrence, the last two of which were hyped to be able to make our life difficult in the ground game. Oklahoma averaged 250 yards a game rushing and managed 97 yards. Clemson averaged 240 a game and was held to 160 while only managing 87 yards total the rest of the game after going up 17-7. We turned on the jets after the Ole Miss game and we didn’t look back.

Also consider, LSU would not be scared of 95 Neb passing game. Making it easy to load the box and make them look a lot like Oklahoma. So the biggest question mark is what could 95 NEB defense do vs the LSU passing game. My theory is if every team LSU faced after Fla decided the only chance they had was to play 6 or 7 DB's and try to slow down the passing game and NOT 1 did. Why would NEB be any different? I believe if 95 Neb played LSU in a base defense without extra DB's Burrow would throw for over 500 yards and score 50+. 95 Neb loses either way.

Yep, and as much as I enjoyed watching this LSU team, that Nebraska team would shite stomp them and make them like it and ask for more. No contest

Yep, Auburn, Fla, Bama, Ga, OK, Clem. all said the exact something. How did that turn out? It does not matter what the 95NEB run game would have done. No team would outscore the LSU 19 offense. There is a reason they scored more points than any team in NCAA history.

See...this a dumb argument and not what anyone who argues 1995 Nebraska > 2019 LSU are saying. If 2019 Alabama were to line up against 1995 Nebraska today, 2019 Alabama wins by 7-10 points. The game is just different now and players are both stronger and faster. Many of last year's top teams would have likely defeated '95 Nebraska due to this reason alone.

That's why when you compare teams from different eras, you have to look at how they played relative to their competition. 2019 LSU had an impressive run. Their resume is unmatched in college football. That being said, they had some squeakers. Texas, Alabama, Auburn, and to a certain extent Florida gave them everything they asked for and came close to beating LSU.

No one came close to beating Nebraska that year. No one. They absolutely drilled their competition and averaged over 53 points per game running the power option. Every single one of their running backs averaged over 7 yards per carry. Their offense was just as explosive on the ground as 2019 LSU's was through the air.
