By the way, all you Ham-loving Ham-supporting Auburn fans, do you have any idea of the history of Birmingham, Donald Watkins, and Dick Arrington (whom Hamsters worship as a god-like figure)?

WTF does that have to do with the Food scene in Birmingham?

I made the mistake of stopping in Little Rock on the way to Tennessee. It was not a good place to be unarmed. Cities just suck In general these days

I clicked on this thread because it was about the decline/suckiness of Birmingham... which was the original topic. By no means was it exclusively about the restaurant scene, but you've tried to make it that, because, by all means, a good food scene nullifies the scummy elements of a city.

Now, back to the Auburn question and your support of the city...

My view is Birmingham biggest problem is and has been it is not the capital city of Alabama. If it was , the state would have supported it much better over the years and it could have developed into a Nashville like city. Given, that Montgomery is a crap hole my advice would be to move the capital to Birmingham, I believe the state wants to build a new capital building.

Birmingham has 3 major problems, and they’re all correlated - crime, poverty, and a poor school system. Moving the capital here would do little to nothing to solve any of those issues. As long as there are are more attractive suburbs in the metro area, Birmingham is always going to have those problems.

Move it a few miles north to Huntsville.
Low crime. Good restaurants. Central location. Fast growing.

Most State Capital cities suck. Look at BR, Tallahassee, Richmond, Columbia, Frankfort and of course Montgomery. I put Atlanta in that group, but I am in the minority with that opinion. All those cities have other cities in their state that are nicer. Might have something to do with the politics of a State Capital.

I gave you many links and articles to include saying the best restaurant in the Country is in Birmingham. I referenced three Food Network Specials and a SECN Special. What you got that the claim of being Top 10 is EXTREME ?

One restaurant doesn't put you in the top 10.

And none referenced them as top 10. The SEC headquarters is in downtown Bham,so I'm glad their network mentioned the food scene on a show about food.

But there are at least 5 others on that level. The James Beard Award is a constant for Birmingham Resturants.

Is the Food Network located in Birmingham?

Man, you sure like to pick crumbs to support your arguments.
Please provide the difference in being Top 25 and Top 10 based on your criteria. You seem to be avoiding the question.

No. I'm just arguing with a mentally challenged person that thinks honorable mentions = Top 10 in the country.

I couldn't agree more. Harry's act has gotten old in a hurry. He went from being a decent poster to an attention grabbing idiot.

No, you are mentally challenged because you cannot come up with a selection criterion to back up your claim the difference between Top 10 and Top 25 is extreme. Tell the truth you real criteria is attacking a poster you do not like.

That’s all I was saying. Birmingham is a great city and beyond the food, as others have pointed out, the music scene is incredible, particularly for its size. My responses here have been mostly motivated by a perverse enjoyment of watching that Irons nitwit twist and deflect when he’s said something that’s clearly and demonstrably false.

Yeah I don’t know why your dueling partner doesn’t simply admit he was using a bit of hyperbole and move on.

Birmingham has some fantastic restaurants that don’t have to take a backseat to restaurants anywhere, both the ones that get attention and the hidden gems.

Saying it’s a Top 10 food destination in the US as of shortly after noon CDT on Thursday, March 24, 2022, is a stretch, IMO.

IMHO the SEC offices should be moved to the Florida panhandle. Somewhere around the Destin area would work. It's the quintessentially pro-SEC area that has fans from all the various schools. All high-crime areas should be disallowed.
