The Pac-12 is stronger than the Big-12 this year. There is no opportunity to get 1 more impressive win in the Big-12 to make up for any losses. Beating Ok State doesn’t gain any traction. The Big-12 winner basically needs to be undefeated to jump a 1 loss Pac-12 winner. So Oregon would get in.
So the OU loss hurts Texas worse than the Alabama win from week 2 helps, because Milroe didn’t know what he was doing.
Bama beating Georgia would be more impressive.

Maybe because it was already established in the line above they are #3.

The fact that they will have played the weakest schedule (save maybe Michigan, but without the big win over a huge opponent) will be meaningless.

Oregon is 3 notches ahead of Alabama. If they beat #3 and Alabama beats #1, Alabama should not pass them in the poll. That’s silly.

Alabama would undoubtedly have a better resume than Oregon but whether that means anything to the committee is anyone’s guess. It doesn’t look like it matters considering how they’ve slotted Oregon as the highest ranked one loss team with no good wins to claim.

If FSU beat Louisville, they deserve to be in. They will be the undefeated ACC Champion and the ACC Champ has beaten the SEC Champ 3 times in the last 10 years for the National Championship. What other conference can claim that?

I think people are sleeping on the fact that a 12-1 non conference champ Georgia still gets in. The back to back defending champ is not getting left out.

Unless Alabama blows UGA's doors off and Oregon looks terrible in a win, it's Oregon in that scenario based on the love Oregon has received all year.
Of the committees espoused criteria to focus on for differentiation among close teams: championships won, SoS, head to head, and common opponents, UTx beats out Bama and Oregon; Bama beats out Oregon. However, unless they simply refuse to leave out an SEC team, I'm fairly certain they disregard the criteria and go straight eye test in Oregon's favor.
It would suck, but you have to win your games. So, it is what it is. It honestly sucks more for UGA slipping from 1 to 5 due to a single post-season loss after the run they've been on.

That's not in the criteria the Committee uses to determine the playoff teams.
