The Bulldog is actually the most common mascot in college athletics. I think it particularly suits us bc of the mentality it takes to have success here, but it would be nice to have a more unique mascot.
But for better or worse, we’re Dawgs

I love our mascot, and I love my state so probably something like Sandlappers

LSU: Loup Garous or Rougarous
If you are familar with Blue Dog paintings by George Rodrigue then that is what the Blue dog is based off of. Only, it's a very toned down version.
This is the real Loup Garou. Think of it as a voodoo practicing Warewolf that lives in the Bayou.

Kind of looks like O on a Red Bull rager after breaking into Jimbo’s house having stolen all of his FSU memorabilia stash.

I've never heard of these either, but yes.

Not that I would actually change the “Fighting Tigers,” but the Catahoula Leopard dog, a breed originating in Louisiana would be a possibility.
For Arkansas fans, the breed is often used for hunting feral hogs.

I’ve been saying y’all should do this. The Auburn War Eagle. Really original. Does Auburn invest into the tigers mascot the way LSU does on an emotional level? We have a live tiger. You guys have the eagle that flies across the stadium. I’ve seen that in person. Bad. arse.

I would change ours to a construction worker to seduce all the A&M fans and then steal all their monies.

This is a Stanford Indian touching a bear's hiney.

Most of the discussion here has been about the team nicknames, not the mascot; but, don't let me stop y'all.
That said, the Georgia Clay Hounds has promise. Unique.
Interestingly enough, since 1980, the Georgia Clay Hounds have the same amount of football titles as the Georgia Bulldogs.
Also, South Carolina, that's a mutt.
