To what would you change it?
So many of our mascots are aged (and I KNOW how y’all feel about A&M’s dated traditions ).
So if you had the authority to change your university’s mascot from the Tigers, Tide, Volunteers, Commodores, Aggies, Gamecocks, Gators, Razorbacks, Bulldogs, Rebels, or Wildcats to something else ... what would you select?

They're pretty popular around here. Incredibly intelligent and loyal and hardy.
My people in Texas actually have them as well EKG. Family in Dallas and Marfa both have Dixie Dingos. I think there is supposed to be one of the better breeders somewhere out there. I can find out for you if you want.
They are great around children but they are one family dogs. They are protective of family members. The wife and I had a male and female for years and loved them dearly but when they passed we went with rescues.
There is also supposed to be a pretty good rescue network for Dixie Dingos I believe. My very elderly Mom would know. She's into all that well into her 80s.
ETA: The most famous Dixie Dingo of all time was Ole Yeller. While the book describes Ole Yeller as a Lab mix, Ole Yeller in the movie was a Dixie Dingo. They used him because everyone mistakenly took the dog's name as "Old Yellow Dog" even though in the book "yeller" was a Texas vernacular for the sound the dog made that sounded like yelling. Carolina Dogs, Dixie Dingos, are commonly referred to as "yeller dogs" around here because of their color. They're an old breed, some say dating back to Native American tribes in the Carolinas, and there are still some feral packs out there sometimes mistaken for yellow wolves.
What I have always appreciated about them is their ability to handle the heat we have in the South.
The wife and I rescued Huskies for years after Balto came out and our two Dixie Dingos handled the heat much better than the Huskies did.

Looks like his stare alone is making your basketball helmet wearing swamp rat run off the page.
