It just hit me.

Is this the same Selena Roberts that started the whole Duke Lacrosse scandal that ended-up being bullshite?

She should have been metaphorically crucified for that one.

Is this the same Selena Roberts that penned the unauthorized A-Rod bio that ended-up being bullshite? Didn't she make her bones claiming A-Rod did PEDs or something?

Is she Auburn alumna?

Will this latest thing sound the death knell for Selena Roberts' career? Or will she get this one right?

This thread is not about what she is reporting this time around, but rather it's about the reckless record of the messenger - her total lack of credibility and why she is allowed to continue to do these sort of things?

Is this a desperation move on her behalf and she used her Auburn alumna insider status to assemble these latest findings?

She really does appear to be a not very believable, likable or ethical person.

Why do we pay attention when she speaks?

We as Auburn fans don't. SECR does for some reason.

She's right this time, though.

She also broke the A-Rod PED story though.

Agreed, but the fault also falls on ESPN for not doing their own work to check her facts and just blindly reported on her story to get ratings, etc.

Why do people who went to Auburn hate Auburn so much?

ETA: In all seriousness, this type of journalist has become a plague on this country with horrendous negative results that are hard to fathom. Duke Lax. Trayvon Martin. Manti Te'o. All stories of varying degrees of seriousness where sensationalist media has completely taken over and driven the story that sells. It is unfortunate that, considering there power, journalists aren't held to any kind of standard or accountability similar to other professionals.

You mean the same ESPN that failed to follow up on that whole Manti Te'O girlfriend thing?

Surely you jest.

Journalists today work hard to get attention. That is the gist of it all. They are willing to print things that are half true or flat bullshite in order to make a zesty story.

She put flat out lies in her reporting on the Duke lacrosse scandal and has yet to say she was wrong or apologize.

Found these on an Auburn board.

The job of the journalist is no longer to collect and pass on information. Anyone and everyone can and does do that on a daily basis nowadays. We here on the SECr are journalists in that case.

The modern journalist's job is to entertain and stir the pot. Unless you have been contacted by some whistleblower or have uncovered the next Watergate, as a journalist you're just a ringleader of the daily circus.

Exactly the reason why she is doing it on some blog. She is a hack and I don't think that this story is going to get her credibility back once it is all said and done.

Reporting these days is just like advertising in that you have to break through the clutter.

This lady isn't just some blogger with an unconventional opinion, she has quotes from Auburn players implicating coaches in wrongdoing. That's why the story is big, not because she's a sensationalist or lying to drive traffic to her web site.

Her tools for breaking through the clutter are the quotes from Auburn players. And that's the story, not Roberts herself.

This the SECr. We deal in fallacious reasoning. If you want to be a logical member of society... um. To be honest, I don't know where the logical crowd hangs out

She has quotes that the players themselves are saying they either did not say, or she twisted them to paint her article the way she wanted it to.

This is her hail mary attempt to get back to her career, If successful she gets her life back, and if it fails you will never hear her name again!
Either way should provide entertainment for the interwebs, which sadly, is all journalism is these days.
