According to Chris Low on "The Nation" radio show, the SEC took an official vote on adding Missouri to the Western Division and moving Auburn to the Eastern Division in September. Slive expected to get the nine votes required, but Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida all voted against the proposal and made it clear they weren't budging, forcing Slive to add them to the East.

You know Tenn, Georgia, and Florida want another cupcake. Even better when it's a conference cupcake.

you would think that would send a message to the commish that this university is, for the most part, not a great fit for the sec.

That makes no sense. If they arn't a great fit, period, why vote for them in the East but not the West? It's all about scheduling, not fit.

Why didn't Florida support it?

ThaKaptin, at least Alabama won something this week.

Florida and Georgia were just plain scared. Point-period.
Tennessee and Bama obviously had their reasons.

Bama voting to keep Auburn in the West = Fear of Auburn?

Alliance between the four schools was formed when all this got started according to Low. Tennessee and Bama would vote with UGA and UF if Slive proposed adding GT, Miami, FSU, etc. and they would vote with Tennessee and Bama in a case like this.
