Offseason thread. Anytime I’m in Oxford I have to grab a seat at Ajax and get something wildly unhealthy. It’s absolutely criminal they did away with the Catfish Cakes after COVID. I remember when I was in school I would split an order of Catfish Cakes and have a Budweiser and with tip would walk out having spent $12. Moe’s Penny Bar has grown on me in recent visits. Where does everyone like to hang? Price is irrelevant just curious what your favorite spots are these days.

That’s my spot. Love all the bartenders there. Some interesting cats in there.

taking my wife to Oxford end of July to show her the campus and town. I haven't been there since 2016 or so. Definitely going to check back this thread for any new places to check out.

Circle and square brewery is pretty cool. Just for the fact we have an actual brewery in town .

Maybe the roundabouts by university/7/kroger will be completed by then. God that’s been a clusterfrick

Breakfast: BBB
Lunch: probably the street tacos at where the Chicory Market used to be located. I can't ever remember the name of that place.
Dinner: SoLa has been fantastic everytime we've gone.

Others worth mentioning:
Fergndans has absolutely fantastic wood fired pizza.
Snackbar is a spot we'll hit up as well for dinner if we're wanting something a bit different and have a good cocktail. Their chef is leaving, but I'm hoping they'll bring in someone just as good.
La Perla - favorite Mexican restaurant.
Volta - best margaritas in town. The margaritas aren't your typical ones.
The Growler - great choice in craft beers and a really laid back atomosphere, and is a great spot to relax if you're on the Square.
Kabuki - some may disagree, but I like the sushi here better. Jinsei is overrated.

ETA: we haven't hit up the Velvet Ditch yet. Reviews have all been really good for it.

I like BBB but my god is it overrated for the typical wait times.

Taco Shop?

Hate hearing the chef at Snackbar is leaving. I rarely venture beyond the Duck Croque with an egg.

We seem to always wind up at Ajax and it’s hard to lay off the Big Easy (add bacon and cheese).

Taylor Grocery needs mentioning even if it’s not in Oxford.

Love some B’s bbq.

Side note but the Snackbar Chef’s cookbook is a great buy especially if you love India/Pakistan/Nepali/Bangladesh cuisine. It’s essentially a Indian and Southern fusion which I can’t say I’ve seen anywhere else before.

I had a roommate who worked at Pakmail and John Currence came in to mail off some recipes. Roommate made copies Also reminds me he shipped a jersey for Masoli when he had that lone year with us.

Yeah, we don't go during game weekends. With the Beacon closed, we need to find a backup spot.

The Taco Shop by Oby's? That place is an institution.
