We're less than a month from kicking off one of the strangest seasons in program history. It's been an unbridled shitshow since Swag blew out his knee in a meaningless game against Georgia Southern last fall, with the only bright spot afterwards coming with Shea Patterson beating the Aggies at Kyle Field.

It's a new year. We have what should be a plus quarterback, and we probably have the best receivers in the conference. The defense hopefully can't be worse than it was last year, especially against the run. Speaking of the run, we should be able to run the ball better this year. However, it looks like Jordan Wilkins may have injured himself in practice today. The injury's extent is yet to be determined, but he was limping.

Use this thread for actual, on field preseason news, rumors, etc. We don't have anything to play for other than pride, so it's gonna suck to a degree, and it will be hard to make it fun, but I think there's definitely fun to be had. If the NCAA doesn't completely impale us, we should have an absurd offense for at least the next two seasons, and I'd much rather watch an Ole Miss team that sucks but can still put up points versus the sort of shamble Houston Nutt trotted out there for us in 2011

It may as well be a 3 year off-season for the next 3 years.

I'm just ready for the season to start. I don't have any expectations this year so any win will be great. I think we have talent (the first half of every game last year proves that) but we will see how he team rallies. Obviously depends on Sept 11. Just ready to get all of this behind us if the NCAA will let it go finally.

I'll go to some of the games, but I'm not geeked up for the season like normal.

Bradley Sowell is just glad the pressure is off so they can get out there and play some football

Yeah, you're one of the students that leaves the games in the third quarter to go to the square.

I stayed all the way through every game the last 2 years now, that might change this year though

I'll get this started:

Will our tight ends catch 20 passes this season?

I say no (and hope I am wrong).

A good QB has to have the TE as the 3rd option.

I think the TEs will be fine. This offense is built to attacks space so if the tight ends can get a release or the right matchup I think we can use them. Evan is going to be hard to replace but we do have serviceable TEs on the roster.

My worries are not about the offense.

TE's will be fine. Opposing defenses will be too worried about the WR group, and it will naturally open up space for the TE's.

As I don't dare pose this question anywhere else, how are you guys (or gals) feeling about what all happened yesterday? I guess I just need to talk this thing out some.

Both sides still just posturing a lot. Whether it's in federal or state court likely won't change anything

Squares pretty fun to drown your sorrows because of a shitty football team though

The NCAA investigators have dug in.

Ole Miss has dug in.

There is only one issue for the hearing, and the NCAA COI recognizes it: is Leo telling the truth on RR and the $10,000 from multiple schools; 5 Level 1's (according to Richard Cross) are in the balance.

Remember, we self-reported 40% of the violations. We admitted the 4 Level 1's under Houston Nutt. The Tunsil allegations have been admitted and we have already paid the price/7 game suspension.
