This defense is trash, we continue to give up record performances against no names. Players are not great but damn 1 ran the same route all day and we didn’t adjust for shite.

I have a hard time putting this on him. Freeze's last year and all 3 years of Luke had absolutely no recruiting on the defensive side of the ball.

1 had 308 rec yards. I don’t care who we have back there, triple team him, foul him, do whatever it takes for him to not run the same damn crossing route the whole game. Unacceptable

Our scheme was pathetic. Rushing 3 guys who probably have a combined 4 sacks all year probably isn’t going to get much pressure on the qb. Kept having 1 on 1 coverage against number 1 for LSU. He doesn’t have the players but they are as bad if not worse today than they were the 1st game of the season, I blame that on coachint

Well when you rush 5 and the pressure isn't any better then you are just hurting the back end. It's a catch 22 of frickery.

Need Malone to commit ASAP.

Support. I gave him a pass all year but the fact we couldn’t produce ANY answer for Boutte is maddening. He ran the same 10 yard over the middle slant every fricking play. Put a spy on the opposite side of the field and have him blind side truck him over and over and over until he stops. Idgaf. The penalty yards would be less anyway

I would give him one more year. He brought in some good players in recruiting. I think the problem is temporary.

Yes he gets another year. He had trash to work with. Our fundamentals are troubling though, especially tackling and angles. You can be a mediocre athlete and be taught these things through drills, and with angles at least know your personal limits.

How many times did we get beat on a run to the outside this season with multiple people in the vicinity because they took a bad angle? A million? 2 million? It’s like they were determined to make a stop for a loss when instead knowing their limits would have led to a safe tackle after a 2 yards gain rather than the 15 yards they actually get.

Having to play receivers and undersized rbs in the secondary is less than ideal. Our lack of depth definitely showed in the second half with our players hopelessly out of gas when forced to play the majority of the game.

I think he gets another year and we can see if the scheme/results improve.

I fricking agree. You don't lose to that fricking LSU team that way. That was a fricking JV team that they put out there today. Get those fricking worthless clowns the frick out of here.

I don't. Booty had 308 yards. How? fricking scheme problems. Why were we running man on him all night? fricking stupid.

In the works. Twitter bio changed to have no ole miss affiliation. It’s rumor now but that adds some legs to it.

Deke and Nix

My guess (absolutely no facts to back this up) is that Kiffin was never big on having either on his staff. But both have strong mississippi ties which is big since the rest of his coaching staff has no ties to the state. He's now had a year to personally meet/talk with the mississippi high school coaches and feels he no longer needs the mississippi connection to get through the high school doors.

Oh wow. Nix has been on staff since Nutt. I honestly think he's one we should keep on but I'm not the expert.

We are currently paying four defensive coordinators. Do you really want to make that five? Pretty soon we will be the school where defensive coordinators go to die. Let's give them a little more time.

quote:

Mike MacIntyre and Wesley McGriff are still on the books at Ole Miss, according to USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer, via 247Sports.

MacIntyre, who was Ole Miss’ defensive coordinator for only 2019, is due the difference of the $1.5 million remaining on his deal and the base salary of $425,000 he earns as Memphis’ defensive coordinator.

McGriff, meanwhile, is due $1.1 million through Jan. 31, 2021, minus the difference he’s earning on a $300,000 per year deal as Auburn’s secondary coach.

This all comes as Ole Miss is dealing with a budget shortfall due to COVID-19 and other restrictions that could rise to as much as $16 million or greater this year, according to athletic director Keith Carter.
