We should be able to get that many players from Memphis in almost every class.
There are several good players in the North MS area next year, as well as several national Top 100 players in Memphis.
We flat out suck recruiting this area in recent memory. I mean KJ Jefferson from North Panola, Dean/Jones from Horn Lake and Eric Gray from Memphis are examples in this class alone.

Yep, gotta do better in Memphis. It may sound arrogant, but the Unv. of Memphis should never be an issue in head to head football recruiting battles which only leaves Ole Miss in proximity on our level. The competition really shouldn't be Vandy and Tennessee has done everything possible to lend us a hand, and we haven't taken advantage.

Arkansas also recruits Memphis well, and arguably the city’s best player is LSU bound. Still, it’s pathetic how ineffectively we’ve recruited Memphis for a while now

Add New Orleans to this mix as well. LSU and Bama will have their pick of the litter, but a lot of talent coming out of N.O. right now.

While he came out on the losing end, Team Flash running back Jerrion Ealy stole the show. The Ole Miss commit had an Under Armour All-America Game-record 116 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.
Wonder if he be like some other baseball players last year and went to college instead of going pro?

Unfortunately, I don't know what to think about Ealy anymore. I keep hearing if he plays college football it will be at State of all places after being committed to us forever. That would be a catastrophe. But mostly I hear he won't be playing college football at all, and so why get our hopes up at all.

Wonder if he has “rethought” about that since RR was hired?

After the UA game tonight I hope he takes a serious look at football. It’s just me being selfish though. He’s getting a huge signing bonus that will probably require him to skip out on college football. Don’t get your hopes up.

I wonder he just doesn't "decommit" if that's the case. Rich Rod runs a more run style offense than Longo or Freeze ever did. MSU just showed that are willing to put a potentially concussed RB back in a meaningless bowl game and risk career ending injury. I don't get why MSU is being rumored as back in the hunt but he has endless options and incredible talent.

I'm confident that if he plays college football he's going to be a rebel. I'm more confident in the fact he probably never does. From talking to guys who have known him I know he loves football, possibly more than baseball but if you a top 10 draft pick it's hard to say no

Would he be able to sign with a pro baseball team and still play football for a year to see how it goes? Kyler Murray signed with the A’s as the 9th overall pick for $4,660,000 and he played a year obviously.
What is even allowed in these contracts and how do they work? I wish one of the spirivals writers would outline different scenarios so we know what is at least possible, even if it’s not necessarily likely.

I sure wish he'd do this. With us.

No way a MLB signs him in the top 10 and allows him to play running back in the SEC. Let alone the fact that he will be a freshman running back in the SEC.

Even if he weren’t a baseball stud, I’d 1000% expect him to flip anywhere else. We’ve only seen it happen pretty much every cycle this decade, and RB has basically been the offensive version of LB in our recruiting efforts

Ealy flipping may not be the worst case scenario. As talented as he is, we are shooting ourself in the foot if he signs and doesn't make it to campus. Every spot on the depth chart is critical next year.

As much as I totally agree with you, would it not help in showing that we can recruit at that high of a level? Even if he never makes it? I get it doesn't help with production but would signing a top 50 player not be a good look for us going down the road? Especially if it's that or simply signing a 4 yr scout/special teams guy?

Ealy decommitted. We do not recruit at a high level. Happy someone else can waste a scholly on him, and obviously frick State

Let Clemson burn a scholarship on him. He’s not gonna play football anyway might as well make room for a RB that will actually show up to campus.

But for real this is the worst “Mississippi Made” class we’ve ever signed.

Ealy being committed or de-committing doesn't play a factor as to what level this staff is recruiting at. He improved the OM draft class due to his rating, however it was a long shot at best for him to suit up on Saturdays.
Hopefully Mac and RR can pick a few low hanging fruit that suit their systems before the last signing day. They are fighting an uphill battle this cycle. Unfortunately this is one of the best years ever for in-state croots.
