Stayed there Saturday night. Great place. Spacious rooms. Cool rooftop bar. Less than $200/night. Wish they put one in every SEC town.

Mesquite chop house, on the other hand, was crap. Mixed up orders. Steaks cooked at wrong temps. It was amateur hour.

Enjoyed my time in Oxford like always--except when LSU loses.

I completely agree on both. Although I haven't actually spent the night at graduate since I live here. Mesquite won't last long, imo.

Did you try any of their $15 cocktails?

I have been to the Mesquite Chop House in Southaven before and I did not like it very much. Definitely overpriced for the experience.

MCH is incredibly overpriced. The Grillehouse does a much better steak imo

I wasn't in charge of reservations this time but I'll keep it in mind for the next time we're up

There are probably 15 "higher end" places I would go before going back to mesquite. :

Maybe not 15, but you get my point

The Graduate is really nice.

Looking forward to seeing what the new hotel at the intersection of university and lamar will be like.

Mesquite chop house has 3 locations I believe and they all suck.

The only reason it does OK in Southaven is because there are honest to god no other options if you are looking for that type of environment without going into Memphis

I don't know if Southaven has a restaurant that is not a chain.

MCH likely already needs new management. I've had friends who are veteran servers on the Square quit because of how poorly run the place is. Seems like it has a decent crowd every weekend though.

Everywhere does when it first opens. That will change soon enough if they don't

I genuinely felt sorry for our server because it was obviously not her fault how bad the kitchen screwed things up.
