Is there any logical and reasonable set of circumstances where this could actually happen?

In the 15 years I’ve been watching it’s undeniable that he had made the program the most nationally relevant it’d been in recent memory.

Yeah. frick that guy for beating Alabama twice and winning the Sugar Bowl. Would have rather gone 6-6 and maybe won an Independence Bowl instead of having a few bad years after accomplishing something we hadn't in 40 years.

This. How the frick doesn’t everyone see this?

No. That’s why it’s dumb it keeps coming up. We’re not going to rehire someone who torpedoed our athletic department. Might as well rehire Farrar while we’re at it

Would have no issue with it. They're the only staff that has taken us to national relevance since Vaught.

I have no issue cheating our asses off like everyone else. I would rather us get the death penalty than live my entire life watching Ole Miss be mediocre at best. There are others who disagree though

Freeze had worked at a school that no longer exists and Arkansas State before coming to Ole Miss. It's not like he was some vaunted candidate when we hired him. We actually got made fun of for the hire. He's not the only person possibly capable of finding success at Ole Miss, but hopefully he is the only person dumb enough explicitly to issue a challenge to the NCAA to find anything wrong with his program AND the only person dumb enough to make his religion such a prominent, inseparable part of his persona while also using his university issued phone to contact sex workers

He and Vaught are the only two to make us nationally relevant. Sure he's not the only one who could do it but he's the only one who was willing to come and stay here until we fired him.

Ole Miss had won three Cotton Bowls this millennium before Freeze even got to town, but I guess we'll just ignore that. Likewise, if Freeze had been in a position to be retained, he'd still be our coach, but he's not, because of reasons completely within his control. He basically had a lifetime appointment as our head coach and couldn't keep his shite together long enough to stick around for more than half a decade.

Two 9 win teams and one 10 win team that never cracked the top 10. 2014-2015 would have beaten those Cotton Bowl teams by 2-3 TDs at least

Hugh has the same amount of ten win seasons here as our boy Cutcliffe. He also now has a losing record here too. So relevant.

If you're counting the NCAA vacated wins, sure. Everyone knows that doesn't matter though

Well according to the only authority on the subject those don’t count. You sound like an Alabama fan and the “on the field argument” with trying to dismiss vacated wins

We all know Matt Luke sucks, but he's not even the worst head coach Ole Miss has had this decade

Likewise, Freeze took us to the highest relative heights we've had since Vaught, but he's not even the only coach to get 10 wins this millennium, nor the only coach with a high end bowl victory.

And by his own actions he can no longer work at Ole Miss. Hugh Freeze has Hugh Freeze to blame for Hugh Freeze no longer coaching at Ole Miss.

And those same fans seem to forget that 5-7 season...

Meanwhile, while its early there is a crystal ball by Demetric Warren for 5 star DT McKinnley Jackson to chose OM this year out of George County... The fan base for some apparent reason wants to write Luke off and not even give the guy a shot.

I must have missed freeze having a two time super bowl winning caliber quarterback.

If you think Houston Nutt isn’t a better coach than Luke I need you to seriously rethink that statement. Sure Nutt didn’t recruit but when it comes to X’s and O’s He would skull frick Luke.

Because frick him. He doesn't deserve a shot. He was wildly unqualified for the job when he got it and people keep saying "he loves Ole Miss. Nobody loves Ole Miss more than him" makes me want him to fail even more. The ONLY reason he got the job is because the boosters were behind him because he gives them country club access to the program.

It boggles my mind why people are even willing to support him and give him a chance. I want him miserable every day he is the head coach of Ole Miss. I want his "dream job" to be a fricking nightmare

That is so intense

What do you think the path to us getting back to achieving the national relevance Freeze brought us looks like?

1. Freeze wasn't given a chance to fix the issues with the 5-7 season.
2. Possibly maybe getting a shot at a single 5 star athlete in Luke's 3rd year here. Freeze had already SIGNED a few by his 3rd year.

Lastly, yes, we could hire Freeze back. All that would have to happen is to send Luke out on his arse and tell Freeze to come back. I would do it in a heartbeat. I would not think twice. It would be stupid not to. I guess we will stay stupid.
