Obviously. But 10-2 is the minimum. And a loss to Oklahoma would leave us with a relatively thin résumé.

Tulane needs to keep winning

I agree with you we need to win this week.
A huge SEC road win will be hard to overlook, especially if they finish at 10-2.

If you think about it, Oklahoma hasn’t really beaten anybody, and they lost to a lackluster Texas team. If we can’t win this game we don’t deserve the playoffs.

We really need to go in there and beat the shite out of them.

Curious to see how the early kickoff time impacts us and if we are sluggish
Shouldn’t be with the biggest game of the season happening but who knows.

Well, since we are “ifing” it up i disagree. If we were to go 10-2 with our only losses on the road at Georgia and at Oklahoma I definitely think we’d deserve a playoff spot. That would mean we’d finish on a four game winning streak as well. But yes, I’d rather not have to see us roll the dice.

The SEC isn't going to get 7 teams in the playoff. A&M is undefeated. Alabama, Georgia, Mizzou, Vandy, Ole Miss, and A&M all have just 1 loss. Tennessee, Texas, and LSU have 2 losses. For a guarantee of getting in at 2 losses, we needed the league to not have so many good teams. And our only "good" win would be LSU.

They got blown out by Texas.
Mateer has looked mediocre since the injury. 200 yards 0 TD and 3 INT against Texas.150 yards 1 TD and 0 INT against Carolina.
Stop the run and make a guy with a broken throwing hand beat us.

Lots of these teams are going to play each other while we will be favored in every game after this weekend.

Of course a lot of this list will work itself out of the equation, and of course some won’t. And regardless of what happens saturday in Norman, like we’ve been saying, there’s no guarantee we just mow down all the rest. Florida is likely to get that “interim bump” and State will give us everything they have and i’ll be the first to admit they are way better than last year. Not to mention South Carolina. At a rate, the home stretch is going to be some kind of interesting.

It's not just the SEC, it's the entire top 25. The worst record in the top 25 has only 2 losses after week 8. Even Tulane, which has beaten two P4 teams and only has one loss to the us (a top 10 team), hasn't made it into the top 25 yet. I'm just saying that 10-2 will not guarantee us a spot this year. Quite a lot of 10-2 teams will be left out.

LSU alone has yet to play A&M, Bama, and Oklahoma.

Betting line is moving steadily in Oklahoma's favor. Already up to -5.5 for OU

These don't matter whatsoever.

We need our defensive line to move steadily this week.

We are running too many 3 man fronts. Last week we tried to stop the run with 3 on the line. I don't get it.

With this defense, we might as well just go all out and play ultra aggressive, and see if we can get turnovers
Posted on 10/21/25 at 12:37 pm to Ancient Astronaut
That seemed to work for us last season. I know we don't have the same personnel on the line, but bringing pressure creates problems of its own for offenses. Hell, Joe Lee Dunn made a career out of it. It was a gimmick defense, but one that was unstoppable for a few years. Maybe it's time to try the gimmick again.
