I love baseball but Beard has me wanting to sacrifice it in order to have these kind of seasons.

If he is our coach next year, we are going to be filthy

He’ll be our coach next season, but we’re gonna have a lot of holes to fill. And baseball and basketball are not even in the same stratosphere from an entertainment standpoint. Or from an interest standpoint nationally. The play in game between Alabama State and Saint Mary’s Tuesday night drew the same television audience as the national championship baseball game last year.

Yep. We need to dump baseball to go all in on basketball. Plus, the SEC and Big 10 are going to take the profit of March Madness from the NCAA next (like how football is) and being good in basketball will become extremely profitable in the next 5 years.

State’s HEAVY investment into baseball is why they're so far behind in football and basketball in NIL, facilities and fan support. I get it to a degree when you have as much history as they do in the sport. But it’s just not even remotely close to as popular as the other two and likely never will be. So you’re basically just pissing money away.

It’s like spending $50,000 on your yard to look good while your roof is collapsing, you have plumbing issues and no electricity.

Eh, I still think neglecting the one sport that we’ve proven we can win a national championship in this century would be a mistake. We’re legitimately a top 10 program in the country in baseball, and consistently top 4 in attendance every season. On a national scale baseball might not be as popular as basketball but in this state (and the South) it’s arguably the #2 sport. I just don’t understand why you would actively choose to throw that away.

I don’t think we should throw away our support for baseball at all. Just fund it proportionally to the other two and not a dime more. That’s fair enough.

What does it cost to buy the same types of baseball teams we’ve always gotten?

Like who is outbidding us for players?
There can’t be more than 10 programs who give more of a shite than we do.

As long as Keith Carter is our AD basketball will be the number 2 sport at Ole Miss. Chris Beard with enough resources can have us as a top 25 team every year. I think the fanbase overall is more invested in basketball anyway. I think our students have the packed the pavilion way more than Swayze field the past two years.

Some of this may be Bianco fatigue. It definitely is with the older crowd home folks.
