I fully understand why some people think we are gonna lose the rest of our games, but jeez guys have y’all actually seen the teams that we have left on our schedule?

An Auburn team that just lost to UT at home, a SCAR team with no quality wins this season, a Vanderbilt team who has been almost as bad as Arkansas, a Mississippi State team whose only big win is against the aforementioned Auburn team, and a good Texas A&M team. Our offense is better than any of their offenses and our defense is only a little worse than Vandy’s and South Carolina’s.

I’ve been just as dissatisfied with our team’s performance this year as the next person on this board, but hoping that our team fails and having a negative outlook on the season is not the answer to the problem. We need to hope that we keep winning so that recruiting can improve and that we can maybe convince a few of our key players to stay for next season and hold us over a bit longer so that we can reload and hopefully attract a quality coach to Oxford.

Honestly, I think Auburn is going to utterly destroy us this weekend and it wouldn't surprise me if the other SEC teams we play do the same. Not that it matters, the ink on the extension papers for McGriff, Longo, and Luke was probably already dry before the clock hit zero on Saturday night. When it comes to defense, South Carolina is at (64) total defense and Vanderbilt is at (99), where are we? (121) Our big wins have been Texas Tech (105) and Arkansas (102).

I feel like the Arkansas win has given us some false confidence. All the problems that were there before the game were still there but the chips fell in our favor for the first time in an Arkansas game. Let's remember that this historically bad Arkansas team was in the process of blowing us out until their QB was knocked out and their RB was injured.

Our party will be undefeated. Who needs football anyway?

Fair points and good stats in your post. It is hard to argue that there is much to look forward to with these next 5 games, and maybe I am still riding high after beating a team that we hadn't beaten in 4 years. I stand by my argument though that there is a chance that we perform better than a lot of us think and that we could close out this season with a 7-5 record because of the lackluster seasons the majority of our remaining opponents have had thus far.

We'll see what happens. Luke temporarily kept the wheels on the bus with the Arkansas win, let's hope he doesn't blow a flat this weekend.

Yeah, I'm really not trying to take anything away from the win, I'm simply trying to hedge my emotions for the possible letdown following the win.
