This might be an unpopular opinion, but I am not for hiring an up and coming head coach. Go out and try to either take a head coach from a stable and consistent program, or get an OC/DC from one of the big boys. Ryan Day, Cale Gundy, Mel Tucker, someone along those lines.
Sometimes you can snag a Hugh Freeze, but how often do they end up like PJ Fleck and just average.

Now don't get me wrong, I do believe that our defensive roster not great by any means. That being said, look at what Wommmack was working with. Not much depth at all, especially on the DL. Senquez, Hilton, and Robert were the only real stand put players that we had back then. Elston and Prewitt were not any better than Hartsfield and Dasher. Undersized and slow LBs, and we had one of the best defenses' in the country.
Wommack's guys bought in, played hard, were in the right position, and in the right play calls. I believe our team now is bought in. You can see that from the effort that they play with. Now we just need a coach to put them in the right positions and make the correct play calls.

Defense has gotten better.......
1. 125th in total defense
2. 114th in rushing defense
3. 124th in passing yards allowed
Texas A&M- 502 total yards
South Carolina- 510 total yards
Auburn- 484 total yards

Just keep working on that "eye discipline"

What a lack of backbone from Luke and Vitter to allow Harbaugh to fly into Oxford and recruit our current players like we are a junior college. What a terrible look.

Why was Swinney in the game on the scoop and score? If we control the clock on that possession then the game is over. Wilkins is by far the most reliable back that we have and Swinney is getting the carries to seal the game.
Sure some of the blame could be on Ta'amu on the exchange, but Wilkins should have been getting the ball there.
