What do y'all think of the new contract?

I know a lot on this board think he will jump sooner than later. Do you think this keeps him around for longer?

I think it helps some. There's always the chance of some real appetizing job coming open elsewhere with more money and more exposure. But those spots are not nearly as plentiful as they used to be. Ole Miss via the SEC has certainly made up considerable ground over the past few years.

Agreed. I also think with the inevitable conference reshuffling post Texas and OU, the move back California via the Pac-12 becomes less likely. It would have to be an SEC job and there are still plenty of places he could go, chiefly LSU in my mind.

I think the contract doesnt really mater. If we want to keep Kiffin we have to make the facility upgrades priority.

Kiffin cares most that he has the tools to win.

To a certain extent. I love Kiffin and hope we keep him forever but he's an attention whore to some degree. And there are jobs out there that would give him far more attention than we would. It would have to be an Ohio State, Texas, Alabama or Florida type of program to pull him away

I think it’s a good step in the right direction. He’ll be one of the top 20 in terms of salary. Next step is upgrading the stadium. They botched the North Endzone remodel, and the IPF could use a face lift on the inside. Love the recent picture of the locker room concept.

I think it will be more than just his salary that is needed to keep him here. Not much can be done about assistant coaches getting HC opportunities, but we need to make sure he doesn't lose assistants to other schools for a similar position. If he feels he can keep his staff together and they are well compensated, that will go a long way to making him feel he can consistently compete here. That said, I think he might stay until the Bama job comes open to see if he gets it. If offered, he's gone. If he's not (I don't think he'd be near the top of their list), I can see him staying here for another year or 2 and then taking a different job. That said, he's been great from day 1 in so many ways and I hope we are able to keep him here for the long haul.

Literally the worst job to come open this century. If I was a young up and coming coach, there's not a job I would shun more than following in the Goat's footsteps. Absolutely no upside. A fan base that will want to hang him for a 2 loss season. And even winning a national championship or three will leave people saying he wasn't as good as Saban.

We will lose him one day. But it won't be to Alabama.

Dude, you can't be serious. I love Ole Miss but even if I was the head coach here and I got a call from Alabama or Texas, I'm leaving unless they match the offer I'm getting plus upgrading facilities

Money can be figured out. I think we are in prime position for him to stay here for a bit and him build something. I think he would like the challenge and prove that he can turn a team and program into a place that overachieves because of him.

The contract gets Lane in the top 15 range in terms of salaries for coaches, and the incentives can obviously add to that. I do think the assistant salary pool is something that will be important. Keith has already announced facility upgrades for football, so hopefully that is something Lane values as well.

I think people waaaay over value the bama coaching job. Coaches that are winning aren’t going to want to go there. When Freeze beat Saban for the 2nd time Finebaum had several calls for Saban to retire. If Kirby had the same performance at Alabama as he’s had at Georgia he would have already been fired. Im not saying when a better job opens up Kiffin won’t leave but whoever replaces Saban won’t last long.

That only happens when you let your ego write a check that your logic can’t cash!

Reading some of the interviews with Kiffin and he seems to have matured greatly over the last 4 or 5 years. I can understand Ohio State or maybe one of the big 6 in the SEC. But a logical individual is going no where near the Bama job once Saban retires. Otherwise I feel like he may sit tight at Ole Miss and build something as long as we give him the support he needs to compete.

Kiffin has given this program more exposure this past year than the past 4 coaches has combined. He is always on a tv show or something promoting the program. I’m not even talking about his Twitter. The only time Matt Luke was asked to be on TV was when it was National signing day and no one really wanted to talk to Freezes awkward arse. We need to give him what he needs.

Maybe the last three out of four. We had a lot of attention for a while under Freeze. Both good and bad.

We need the boosters to jump on the NIL bandwagon. This will be key to recruiting and retaining a quality HC.

I wouldn't go that far. Freeze had us on GameDay 3 times, once in Oxford and we were on the cover of Sports Illustrated a few times.
