Hey, it’s equally as funny when rival fans think LSU is embezzling state tax dollars instead of actually having the finances.

Ok so we're back to non-rival industry persons thinking that...
And for the record, I have absolutely no idea on how right or how far wrong they could be. Could be right about some of the schools and wrong about the others. But this one ain't an Ole Miss rumor, and it isn't limited to LSU.

Nobody said that LSU is out of money but you can't argue against Landry's involvement being sketchy at best. No, I don't think LSU is broke but I do think Landry is a crook. I think he put up public funds because, up until that point, your school was without a President or AD. There was nobody there to coax big donors out of millions of their own dollars. People love to tout big donors but this is real money and very few people want to just hand these amounts to kids. It's easy to spend someone else's money.

I saw the SEC rant post and was going to follow up. First this is an Ole Miss board and I appreciate you guys letting me voice counter arguments. I think it’s important to not be in an echo chamber of reinforcing ideas no one can really prove.
To quickly say LSU has media outlets that monetize the downside of college athletics instead of all puff pieces-especially tiger rag, who employs of all scum Glenn guilbeau. He’s mocked not hiring Napier to defending matt McMahon. It’s his business model to be contrarian.
Washington has a 7 billion dollar endowment and even their AD is publicly melting over the direction this is going. It’s not about “LSU is poor” but more about no will be left standing but Texas at the rate this is going.

As far as Jeff Landry-I wish he executed LSU’s goals and ambitions for the rest of the state. I no longer live in the state and probably wouldn’t vote for him, but I’m elated he gave us new leadership that is promising. He’s a goof nationally but his vision for LSU is sound.
Do I think LSU is embezzling state funds? No, and I’ll die on the hill that it’s ridiculous. Do I think LSU is taking a calculated gamble to throw the chips in? Also yes. Lake Charles is swimming in money with the LNG plants going up and Landry has used his ties to bring in outside donors for Will Wade. That doesn’t mean it’s sustainable.
People can understandably give shite to LSU all day, but even if it doesn’t pan out for some reason the base is elated we put our dicks on the table. But yes, something has to give with the current model or schools will just have the big three.
My bad on the rant but the discourse on both sides is devoid of coherent thought and needs context. I think we all look forward to Armageddon on September 19th.

Nobody read my post on the Rant. They took it as a dig at LSU but I am saying that we are all fricked if things don't change. The current system is unsustainable.

This isn’t what is being disputed.
The players are contractually obligated to pay. Buyout + attorneys fees + damages means Prince took a pay cut to go to lsu. Who knows what lies Lane told him to take a bad deal if lsu isn’t covering the buyout.

Yeah, I did not put LSU in the title so that it wouldn't be taken as a dig at LSU. As I said in the OP, the article speaks to issues that all SEC schools are facing right now. I don't understand why so many LSU fans think I am one of the Ole Miss fans that hates LSU. Sure, I've jested with things in the past, and I will always come to the defense of Ole Miss but I've never gone out of my way to blast LSU nor take cheap shots at LSU.

he signed the rev share he is legally required. but instead Of LSU paying it we have this whole show. where lsu doesn't pay makes us take them to court then some lsu donor pays.
but this hurts optics for future transfers.. LSU told them they'd cover the buyout. that had to be discussed before the transfer. for the case of Umanmenielen he had the same offer from Ole Miss is what was alleged.. so why eat the buyout and make less..
If a Rev share transfer doesn't pay the buyout or it's not paid for them they should be deemed ineligible.

Piper Hutchinson feels LSU’s NIL packages/payments should be public record, which for multiple reasons LSU disagrees with and feels it would put the school at a competitive disadvantage.
Piper has even gone on record acknowledging LSU’s athletic department is self sustaining and does not take tax dollars, but Hutchinson considers tv and ticket sales “public revenue” and feels the revenue sharing allocated to athletes is subject to FOIA laws and should be disclosed. LSU is doing what any SEC athletic department would do to not stir controversy to who is being paid what. She has never said and has no claim that LSU is embezzling state dollars despite the internet conspiracies.
There is nothing I can say that will sway you guys from your general thoughts about LSU and what it currently is/isn’t as an athletic department, so I’m gonna show myself out of the thread. I’ll be back closer to football season
