Please no to Mike Bobo. Mike MacIntyre is who I want.

I think I got my "Mikes" crossed. Meant Mac but he does come with some oversight baggage due to hiring a guy that abused women and he knew it.

Have a hard time believing you could hire Morris. I just don't see him leaving the state of Texas.

Strong has an offset clause in his UTx contract, making it really hard to "buy" Strong. He is a guy with deep roots to the state of FL, inheriting a great team from Willie Taggart and not wanting to risk repeating stupid race related drama from UTx

I think you mean Mike MacIntyre. This seems feasible, Boulder admin notoriously are cheap with their athletics/FB coaches.

He does have a pretty big buyout from what I understand since he just signed a big extension. I think it is ~$7mil

Another guy that just popped into my head is Dana Holgorsen. I wonder about his availability?

His name was tossed around 2011 and I remember hearing some talk last season about he and the administration not necessarily seeing eye to eye.

Dana is a well established coach though, don't see him jumping ship from a decent program to this dumpster fire

It would have been a big splash pull sans investigation/prostitutes. Don't see how it is possible now

You may be speaking the truth about a good amount you said Gen. However, this is 2017 not 1990's Mississippi and I think the Strong's would have a different experience here now. In regards to getting an established coach, it actually isn't a bad thing since you have a pretty talented roster, will have +3 year leash to get your recruits and make $5M a year while doing it. Just some things to think about.

Unless we go undefeated, I will cease being an Ole Miss fan if we hire Matt Luke as our full time head coach. I would rather hire a SWAC offensive coordinator

Yup I've already been questing which team to start supporting after we inevitably hire Matt Luke

Depending upon how their season goes, I hope we give Lane Kiffin a blank check. I know it won't happen but it's time that we embrace being the villain.

The biggest thing is Jeff Vitter needs to stay as far away from the hiring process as humanly possible. He's a liability for the athletic department.

Agree. I pray that Longo and Crime Dog take over.

If you read the articles about Shea, Luke is a big part of why Shea is at Ole Miss. So, maybe it's not a bad move to put Luke in the #1 slot.

Regardless, we will live and die this year on the 2 new coordinators.

I (Luke) habe no shot at this job. I will be given 2017 season as a audition for another gig. There is no way you hire a guy in the middle of a season. We will know what the penalties are from the NCAA when the next coach is announced.

I don't expect damaging penalties from the NCAA at this point. I mean they risk appearing to be piling on at that point if let's say they added a 2nd year bowl ban. Media would ask why. Who would you be punishing other than the students? If RR and this collusion talk have teeth the NCAA may just relax.

I'll let Ross do his job and pick the right guy. My preference is Chad Morris. This hire is a program changing hire.

Part of the problem is that the Texas A&M job could very well be opening at the end of the year.

Would Cutcliff return ? Wouldn't be a bad choice for stability but his recruiting
would worry me. Unless Matt Luke wins 9 games this year he has no chance
at being offered an extension. Ole Miss isn't in a unredeemable position. Good
facilities, money and the next coach will be given time . It will be one of the best
openings to come up this year.

aTm and Tennessee could both be open in the conference, not to mention jobs like UCLA, Notre Dame, Oklahoma if their season is an abject failure, and a few other gigs that look a lot better than Ole Miss on paper. Hell, maybe Gus is on the hot seat if their season is already over before the Iron Bowl. Purely by nature of it being an SEC job with an accompanying paycheck, it should be better than a middle or low tier gig in the other P5 conferences. Ole Miss can pay anyone as much as Wisconsin pays Paul Chryst ($3.2m), for example, and the Wisconsin job is a better job on paper, likely even before talking NCAA clouds.

I don't see any way Cutcliffe would come back. He has low expectations, and he's probably too old to want to rebuild a program

Ole Miss can pay 1 mil more than that. And that's even before you look at assistant salary pools.
