Is Wells done here? I thought he had another year of eligibility. Didn’t Williams tell coaches he was going to the portal? I will believe Deion Smith gets on the field when I see it

I think we part ways with Juice Wells.
He can’t catch. Although I have also heard he wasn’t 100% this year. Muscle atrophy in his injured leg.

I think Williams requested to redshirt or something. Think he’s a guy you can rope back in during the spring. Everyone says he’s crazy talented so not sure what is going on with him.

Supposedly Deion Smith worked on getting eligible this fall. He does have one year of eligibility left. But yeah I’ll believe it when I see him catch a pass in an Ole Miss uniform.

The portal is also gonna be a gold mine for receiver talent. It already is.

It's absolutely delicious to read.

The conversation on three of their commits went like this:

A, B, and C are committed. Do we retain all 3 or are any of them at risk of flipping?

All three are solid. They will sign with us tomorrow. Nothing to worry about.

2 of the 3 go elsewhere

OM up to its shenanigans again

A is all dawg. He'll be a great one.

B was never coming here.

C we didn't really want. He's easily influenced and will probably be in the portal by the summer.

One entire page in their recruiting thread was melting over one of their junior college commits flipping to USCe. Just delicious.

Oh man. I’m hyped about all of our commitments but that one is delicious. He was a cornerstone of their class.

Kiffin sticking around and having Golden/Chris Kiffin is creating a monster in recruiting

I would be happy to have him back, just to see if he could regain his previous form

But I wouldn’t spend a lot of resources to make it happen

Fun fact: Kiffin is going into year 6 at Ole Miss. He will be tied for the 4th longest tenured coach in program history, just passing Hugh, Cutcliffe, and Sloan. You have to go back to Billy Brewer to find the most recent coach that coached for longer than Kiffin has at Ole Miss and that was in the 80s, when Ole Miss had Gerald Turner as Chancellor, who didn't give two shits about athletics. (Turner is the reason why we fell so far behind on facilities in the 80s)

In other words, we haven't ever really stuck with a guy long enough for them to truly build their program and sustain recruiting. It's an exciting time for sports at Ole Miss.

There’s a lot of copium going on over at the other board. Parents want him at State, they’re not happy with the decision, he will be in the portal in April, this frees up money to bring in experienced players out of the portal (lol).

It’s sad. They think a couple hundred thousand is going to be enough to lure an experienced LB to them from another school.

Reading the comments over there most of them realize how fricked they are but their understanding of NIL and the portal is truly amateurish.

I think my favorite line they parrot is we are in extreme debt due to our NIL spending and we had to take out loans to cover our expenses and we’ll never be able to do it again.

Financial institutions are known for giving out millions and millions for dollars for “paying college athletes to come play for us”. We are on the brink of bankruptcy

Oh this one was too good not to share.

On Lockhart

quote:

Looking like no less than $400,000, they’re offering him just for next year alone. Inside word is at the moment that kid isn’t mean or tough enough. Body and talent to be great but mentally not there. He might change and figure it out who knows, but in the mean time that’s a half a million dollar gamble on a high school that hasn’t even proved he can make it in college ball

I click them sometimes. The craziness on that site is doing good work for the home team, and I support ole Coonass’ venture.
