Transfers in either direction should not surprise, disappoint or get us too excited. If nothing we should have learned that much last year and this season.

About to be a mass exodus in and out of our program after this season anyway

With the seniors and transfers who’re out of eligibility and having to replace everyone

We are gonna give Colorado a run for their money when it comes to roster turnover

Eh. At the end of the day we’re still going to have a solid NIL fund

I know but it would be nice to see what the kid might have done instead of watching Juice Wells drop passes when Tre goes out again.

I’d love to see the internals of the grove collective .. and if this season doesn’t go like everyone thought.. how much less will have in it for next year compared to this year

If people get sick of giving and decide to do something more productive with their money instead of trying to help buy a linebacker

I think the desire to win is too strong for it to go down that much

Maybe you’re right and I’m underestimating that most important fact.

My thing is, after last year it was well we are missing a few pieces to get us over the hump and into the playoffs so we need even more money to get them ( Nolan/princely/the lineman) and THAT will get us to the promised land

Now, that looks unlikely and a massive roster turnover coming to restart from basically scratch .. I wonder if the enthusiasm for giving overall in the program will suffer .

Because we were so close, people felt more inclined to give to get us to the playoffs but now after it’s over with when everyone’s gone, will they repeat it again?

I think you just nailed it right there. We were told that we just needed bigger bodies on the lines, and everyone gave money to make that happen. But, the OL has been horrendous (Garrison needs to be gone) and the play calling has been atrocious (Weis Jr needs to be gone) as well as the stupidity of Bentley not starting (Smith needs to be gone).

Our defense has played well enough to keep us in games, although we need to bring more pressure on the opposing QB instead of just counting on the DL to get that pressure.

If Lane is here next year, he has some difficult decisions to make regarding his staff. Two inexcusable losses due to, what is essentially, poor coaching, has taken the wind out of the sails for this years team.

This year was playoffs or bust. I don't see how we can sneak into the playoffs even if we somehow manage to even win out.

We were more than close last year. We were very much in had this same playoff system existed. The increased NIL and transfer commitment by us should, in theory, have only put us safely in this year. And let's face it, we should be sitting at 7-0 and 3-0 and in complete control of our own destiny, but we managed to set that on fire Sept. 28 and then throw gas on it Oct. 12.

A concerning take for me is Lane saying how it’s good our expectations as fans have changed since he took over. Borderline insulting to our intelligence. No Lane, we were/are upset because you pulled two classic choke jobs. Upset because we were clearly the better team against LSU yet your nepo approach or whatever and vanilla offensive playcalling kept LSU in the game. We would be plenty upset with close losses against teams well before you showed up. That’s where we were hopeful you and a competent staff could help get the team/program over that hump. But yeah dude whatever makes your ego feel better.

Edit: and also factor in NIL era where people are paying good, real money to help bolster the program and the coaching is falling flat. “Oh it’s a good sign Ole Miss fans are upset whereas in the past they wouldn’t have cared.” “Well they sure ought to be Lane because you’re being paid a dump truck full of money as if we are a yearly NC contender, huge NIL investments, and little to show for it on the field.”

I don’t think him saying that is concerning. It’s 100% right. If our fans are upset because we aren’t meeting expectations of an elite program, that means there has been a change in our fanbase culture. A big reason we were stagnant for 3 decades is because our fans just wanted a reason to go to the Grove, socialize and get drunk. Winning the game was secondary.

My favorite Lane moment was after we almost beat Alabama his first year he said in his press conference “you know, the fans giving us a standing ovation and clapping for us as we came off the field, that’s nice and all but getting close isn’t what we came here for. We shouldn’t celebrate if we don’t win. I didn’t and these players didn’t come here just to be competitive”

The fans that are ok with just “give a good effort and nothing else matters” are the worst kind of fans because they are what ultimately kills programs. It’s what’s going on at Mississippi State and has been for decades. Anyone that thinks it’s unrealistic for us to win championships and doesn’t demand that aren’t true fans. They are sidewalk fans who need to frick off somewhere else

Kiffin has connections most coaches can only dream of, but inexplicably does the same shite Hugh Freeze gets flak over, and recycles the same G5 level bums over and over. Weiss Jr, Garrison, and Smith were all on his FAU staffs. We’re paying top 3 OC in the country money to Charlie Weiss Jr, when damn near any other OC is available to us given we’re willing to spend that kinda money. Thinking about that makes my head want to explode. We went from Lebby to a guy who was failing spectacularly at USF and was about to be fired. WTF Lane.

And 5 years later.. we still aren’t winning these type of games.

Kiffin and the program can’t have it both ways.. you can’t demand the fans want more than a good effort and that you came here to win and win big… then the fans pack the stadium setting record crowds when it’s never been more expensive to go to games and the same fans give you all this extra money for you to handpick who you want from the portal to get where you say you wanna go.. then it goes to shite because of horrid coaching decisions and then when the fan base gets mad and questions what the hell is going on with their investment .. then wonder why we are questioning the decisions and not giving us any answers ( Bentley and his lack of playing time for one example
) and then wonder why fan apathy is already starting.

What exactly has been the issue with Ayden Williams? I thought it was injury but isn’t he healthy now? This is an interesting stat.. Jordan Watkins has only 13 receptions for appx 236 yards and 2 TDs. He may finish the season with his lowest receiving yards year aside from his first year of CFB in 2020 (57 yards). It’s hard to believe Williams is struggling to find the field if it’s not injury related.

Nobody on here is gonna know. At this point we’ve got more questions than answers and way more mysteries than explanations.

After what they’ve done with Bentley I cant trust that they are playing the best players. He may be crushing practice or a flop. Guess we will never know now
