Yeah they really don't like him. Peyton might still be stuck on how Kiff left Tenn. I can understand where he's coming from there.

but also...we need to start being bigger than just the Mannings.

I’m sick of the arch talk . If his name wasn’t manning, not sure he’d have as much buzz as he does

Let’s all collectively move on

Yeah I love the Mannings but if they don’t like Kiffin they can frick off. I remember hearing that Carter was getting a lot of blowback for firing Luke from the good ol’ boy network and they were pressuring him to hire McIntyre. Thankfully he told them to pound sand and hired Lane.

Guess we know now who was leading that whole charge

I’ve never been a lover of the Mannings. I’m glad Eli did his thing at OM and of course Archie though that was well before my time. I was also never a Saints fan. I can take or leave any of them and they are certainly not larger than the school. It’s been a relationship good for all parties but I honestly feel the Mannings have gotten more from Ole Miss than the opposite. Arch can do whatever he is led to but I also sincerely hope his teams get thoroughly destroyed each and every time they face the Rebels.

While I agree with your sentiment, this is false. Ole Miss has gotten more national positive attention from the Mannings than anything Ole Miss could give back to them, and that's not getting into all the money they've given back to the university.

Why does everyone say this? Is this what the On3 or other pay sites are stating?

I haven't really heard of any meaningful interactions between Kiffin and the Mannings.

Peyton very publicly stated that he would pay arch millions to NOT come to Ole Miss. That's about as telling as anything.

And as Insider said....not hearing about any meaningful interactions between Kiff and the Mannings is a big tell.

Just tried to look it up and...well shite. I could have sworn that I saw that from somewhere legit. Scratch that part then....

But I've still heard they were never a fan of Kiffin and didn't like the hire.

He wasn't GOB enough for them? Didn't ask to kiss the ring when in town to interview with Keith Carter?

Word is they wanted Macintyre promoted to HC. I'd say we came out for the better on that decision.

Don't get me wrong....I love the Mannings. They're everything you ask for when it comes to a college football family and a great representative of us. But we gave Archie a chance to help pull the strings of the program...and it didn't exactly get us anywhere. Just because you've been around the sport for a while doesn't make you an expert on a very specific and important aspect like hiring a Head Coach.

I think Old Archie oughta sit a couple coaching searches out after going all in on Hugh Hefner Freeze

Freeze wasn’t a bad hire. He elevated our program to a level that nobody had since Vaught and he’s a big reason Kiffin came here because he saw what our program can be when things are rolling. People need to stop acting like he was a disaster of a hire.
Yeah he was an idiot for making those calls but if the NCAA wasn’t on a witch hunt, he would probably still be our coach today.

I’m not a hater of Freeze at all. Was a good hire, but Archie was at the forefront of that hire and the head of a “national” search committee. Then turn around after the debacle and express your concerns over a guy named Lane Kiffin.

That’s where my problem with Archie lies

Yeah I can't imagine anyone rationally hating the Freeze hire.

He just absolutely mishandled the meeting with the NCAA investigator over Moncrief.

I honestly don't give a shite about the whores given that A: it was paid from his personal finances and B: they weren't used for recruiting.

I can't blame him for the Luke promotion. Hard not to retain the guy that helped rally the team to an Egg Bowl victory at that time. We pretty much all knew he wasn't "the guy" but we were sanctioned to shite and back....no one else in their right mind would have taken that job.

Outside of that....he (allegedly) wanted us to keep Luke and then wanted Mac to be promoted once we did fire him.

That’s pretty fricking sad. A guy like McIntyre would do better at a Wisconsin or Iowa, hard nosed football team that plays solid defense and tough OL but will never score more than 13 points.

That doesn’t play in Oxford anymore. And quite honestly it hasn’t since archie himself was here
