Correct. The players get bombarded by fellow students daily with this shite and THAT is where the distractions come from.

Again, I love Lane but he’s frustrated at the wrong people if he gets mad at fans online for making a distraction. It’s ultimately on him to quell those rumors and he can easily do that by saying “I’m not interested” if he truly isn’t. The longer you don’t say anything, the easier it is for distractions to pop up and gain validity

And that’s on Lane and Sexton. Not fans who are pissed that their coach isn’t coming out and saying “I’m committed and am staying at Ole Miss”.

He has nobody to blame but himself if the players get distracted and it impacts their performance

This was and still is true in 2022 and today.

LK likes to blame the students and fans for not being committed and all in with attendance yet he himself has been flirting with other jobs . You don’t get to scold me for not being bought in all while you’re threatening to leave for a few more dollars. He’s the one causing distraction and fan strife and fracturing the fan base and likely team.

Attendance didn’t cause us to shite the bed against Kentucky last season. We’ve given him plenty of salary for his staff and for NIL budget. There’s only so much we as fans can do. At some point it’s on tbe highly paid coaches and players to execute. But they don’t like to hear that because that would mean taking responsibility for your failure instead of placing blame elsewhere

What a message it sends to your players and organization that the CEO is wanting to leave. Of course it’s distracting and now they’re thinking of their next steps if he bolts

Who could blame him if he wants to give Florida a shot? He’s given us most of 6 years and has raised both our profiles. We have the best AD in the country. I hope Lane stays, but we’re not going to turn into State if he doesn’t.

It all gets back to the players and, as we saw in 2022, it leads to a collapse of a season. I'm not looking for instant gratification. I am looking for 100% effort on THIS season without all of the bullshite. And it's not just message boards. It's major media, just about all of them, covering this.

You can't blame Ole Miss fans for not wanting this season to go to waste. I don't give a shite if he stays or leaves. I just want to see how far we can go in 2025.

I said this weeks ago that my biggest fear wasn't him leaving but was, instead, the impact that this would have on the current season in progress.

The truth is this - for all he says, Lane is not fully committed to Ole Miss, and he has authorized his agent to shop his name around for some job openings.

We, on the other hand, are fully committed to him. We have done everything we can do.

Lane is a very truthful person, so he cannot come out and say he is fully committed to us, because he isn't.

Stay off the message boards during these types of things.

All the people posting shite have no clue.

Ultimately, i just want to see us do well regardless of who is the head coach. I’m certainly not emotionally attached to Kiffin in any way. He’s a different sort and that’s fine. He runs it like a business and that’s that. OM, Oxford and the fanbase have all welcomed him with open arms; however, as far as i know. If and when he decides to leave I would certainly hope we don’t all try to torch his contribution to the OM brand because that’s been significant obviously enough. That said, i certainly hope when he does exit it doesn’t completely derail the current season whether it’s this one or one to come.

No fan of any school is going to watch a coach leave their program for a conference rival and cheerlead the coach for their positive contribution. That's just not reality and that is not going to happen at all. If those are your realistic expectations, then you're in for a rude awakening. I've been around long enough to know that is, quite literally, never the case.

"Once you leave our program, screw you. I hope you lose." That's reality, unless, of course, it's for the NFL or retirement. Those are the only two exceptions.

I didn't say we should continue to root for him if/when he leaves. I literally said we shouldn't torch his contribution to the OM brand. Nothing more, nothing less.

If he leaves, it would be one hell of a story arc:

there's nothing more Lane Kiffin than releasing a documentary on Oxford rebuilding his relationship with his family and himself, spending the next few weeks calling Kirby fat, Oklahoma cheaters and taking the Florida money and running.

Yeah, it would certainly be a horrible look after that ESPN doc came out and he talked about how much family meant to him, how he learned to stop chasing after the next thing, etc... It would make him look like a liar.

Calling it now. Lane leaves for Florida, takes Simmons with him. They make the playoff next year and before he leaves for the NFL, Simmons either wins the Heisman or at minimum makes it to New York

If Kiffin left for Bama, I think I'd root for him to do well. We all know that's really the job he wants and if it weren't for Saban and Bama we probably don't have Lane Kiffin as coach as Ole Miss. If he leaves for LSU or Florida, I would get it, but I couldn't root for him. Obviously LSU is our biggest rival and to talk about how much Oxford and the people of Ole Miss mean to you and then go to their biggest rival would be a bit of a slap in the face. Florida is a great job but I can't their fans with grown men wearing jean shorts and tank tops seriously. The entire school and fanbase celebrated criminals because it won them games. Can't root for him to do well if he goes there with that culture.

I think the job I might be most concerned about right now is the Miami Dolphins. While the hours are much more demanding as an NFL coach, he wouldn't have to deal with boosters, transfer portal and he'd be living in Miami. That said, if he goes there I hope he wins a super bowl.

I will say this - it does kinda suck the excitement out of the season.
