Hmm... tough one. Prince is probably the better pure musician, Jackson was by far the better showman.

It can be hard to guess who is a supremely talented musician at times... by all accounts Flavor Flav is a musical prodigy who can play just about any musical instrument at a high level. He's also Flavor Flav so the first phrase that comes to mind when you see him isn't "musical genius" its "kill it with fire."

Showmanship is a talent by itself in many ways.

Eh. Between the two I liked MJs music more, bit I think Prince had him beat in pure talent.

Also, contrary to popular belief, MJ did not invent the moonwalk

Prince was more musically talented, but Michael Jackson was the most talented entertainer ever

I'd say Prince only because MJ was mostly joked about and known as a weirdo to most of the younger generation that knew of him.

Everyone would literally joke about him dying and then one day that you didn't expect it, he died. I guess give points to him for that.

Prince could play a ton of instruments and was savant like musically.

Mike was extremely talented too, but gotta go with Prince.

Too true. Jackson was very gifted at it during his prime.

Only one person ever said "I live inside my own heart, Matt Damon." because he was sick and tired of Matt Damon's shitty small talk. I rest my case.

Prince could also play every instrument and earl in his career he did on all his albums. The Revolution was just his touring band in the beginning

I would say M.J..... talented enough to be a child molester and still be loved today as some sort of hero.

Michael is better in every way but two, producing and playing an instrument. I might give him a slight edge in writing, but that's debatable. Other than that it's not even close. As a singer Michael slays him, and I don't care about this "range" nonsense Prince fans like to bring up. When it comes to vocal quality and singing a song, Jackson was clearly better. Jackson was far more famous, far more popular, produced better albums, more #1 hits, more top 10 albums, was a far better dancer, won far more awards, made far better videos, and on and on and on. This doesn't even include Jackson's work with the Jackson 5, which is pretty legendary in itself.

The thing about Prince is he was a prolific producer and writer. Unfortunately, the vast majority of it was crap, and nobody can even remember 90% of what he created. Michael produced far fewer albums, but even his worst is far better than the vast majority of Prince's crap. Prince was a quantity over quality guy. Michael was just the opposite.

No, Prince wouldn't even make a list of the top 20 best guitarists. George Benson, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Hendrix would embarrass him.

For a musical savant, he sure produced a lot of crap.

Prince.

Dude could play any instrument. He could put some coins in a plastic bag and make it sound impressive.

Don't you think there are a few people ahead of Prince ?

Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn , Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler.... you know, just to name a few ?

Prince is legitimately the greatest musician to ever live, IMO. And yes, I think he’s a better guitarist than at least 10 of the people you listed.

For the kiddies who aren't educated.

You could almost say the crotch grab is more explicitly Michael Jackson's move then the Moonwalk.
