If your wife said sports was dumb and you could no longer watch? I would say bye bitch.

My twin sister once dated a guy who hated sports. A great game was playing and he said the game or him and she chose the game. Lol

Ultimatums are deal breaker for me.

She could say I can no longer watch but I would continue to sit in my living room and watch. This leads to a few questions. How did you marry someone like that? It shouldn’t be a shock to either person that you like watching sports and she hates them. Is she willing to get a divorce over that? If she is, tell her to not let the door hit her in arse on the way out.

What’s that old song, “If you don’t know me by now…”

tell her to watch the iron bowl then get back with you

It’s your wife not your mom when you are 8, she doesn’t get to tell you you can’t do stuff.

I feel like that conversation would have occurred around the dating for 4 months mark and she wouldn’t be my wife.

I am lucky my wife loves sports but the only thing wrong is she is an auburn fan.

Well in my real-world situation, that would be laughably inconceivable. She might joke like that, in which case I'd jokingly retort that she should stop watching her Dateline/ID/FBIcases porn (some of which isn't actually bad - watched a few episodes with her from time to time).
So strictly hypothetically, the future Mrs would certainly figure out at about the second date that I was big into sports personally, having been in competive sports from the age of six into my mid-twenties. If she couldn't sort out just what she could live with from my nature and enthusiasm by the time the vows came around, she'd have no one to blame for that but herself.

Has nothing to do with sports, but I would not be with my wife if she dictated what I could watch or do.

I wouldn't have married anyone who thought they could tell me what to do like that on the first place.
That's what I would do.
That's what I would do.

I'd smile and point out she is also dumb

You really have no choice. You absolutely must PIIHB and let here know who's boss.
You're welcome.

I agree with a caveat. If the Ultimatum is "I am going to leave you if you don't stop murdering homeless people and wearing the skin as clothing." On that one yeah, I can see that. Maybe you need to reign things in a bit.

#1 I would never marry woman that did not like sports
#2 If I did, when she said that the divorce papers would already be in her hands

Thankfully I needn't worry. My wife enjoys football and sometimes is more passionate than I am, to the point of scaring the dog, causing it to look for another room to hide in

My wife probably likes sports more than I do now, and I played all of them when I was younger.
I still watch college football and basketball, but never watch MLB, NBA or NFL anymore.
And I'm losing more interest in college with all of them becoming instant millionaires and choosing to play for the highest bidder.
