I am having trouble with this distance. I really struggle with my 4 iron and it's starting to carry over into my 5 as well. I am contemplating buying a 4 hybrid

And congrats to the OTB mini-tour players who use a 6 iron from 200 out

Easy, clean hybrid 4. Hybrid 3 and 4 changed those clubs for me and is an effective part of my game now.

I hit my 6 iron about 185. 200 is a firm 5 or a runner 4 iron if I have the space to run it.

I have a 4 hybrid but sometimes I like to use my 3 wood from 200ish out and just take it nice and easy. Especially if it's up hill and bit and pin placement is towards the back of the green.

Probably 5 wood if 200 uphill.

Went this morning hitting the 4 iron about 200. I don't know what's with my game but I can't get solid use of my driver. I'm at that point where I'd rather tee off with my 4 iron and have a straight 200 yd hit than taking chances with my driver.

that's called learning course management. 200 yards down the middle on a <400 yard par 4 is playable all day and most people would actually improve their game using this knowledge. Anyone thinking they need a drive longer than 250 down the fairway is playing from the wrong tees.

I personally would use a 3 iron. I really don't think you can actually go over 200 and be accurate with it.

I do this a lot as well because I suck at hitting my 4 iron. I need to get a 4 hybrid

Thanks for the reply. I'm on a few groups and I'm pretty sick of seeing ppl gloating about hitting it 280-330 constantly and seeing score cards that are all par and below. I wish I had the perfection out of my driver, but I feel very confident hitting with my 4&5 irons. Im just happy to go out there and enjoy the day.

The scorecards could be 100% bullshite depending on what rules they play. I have played with a lot of people who managed to have "an off day" when they played with me that typically hit the ball 300 down the middle and carry a scratch handicap that I don't think they ever could hit it past my 2 iron off the tee or break 80. I know a lot of people who claim those types of scores that can't play anywhere but their home course by their house rules of dropping on OB shots and taking really long gimmes.

My 3 wood sometimes my 3 iron

But I can't hit it straight two times in a row and IDGAF I just like to try and play when I can.

Yeah it's a Facebook group and its like damn dude if you're this good why aren't you getting paid. I made a comment that the average "drive w/ drivers" at the Open this weekend was like 280. Ppl came on there talking shite real fast and the ignorance with these ppl make the game seem cheap. Integrity and fun is what the game is all about.

I laugh at people when i hear they drive ball 270 average. I'm sorry but being in the rough 270 yds away really isn't avg 270.

I readily admit I can't drive it hit long irons or putt. I don't even carry a Driver in my bag, I can't hit it straight and never have been able to.

My grandpa told me I had more fun than anyone on the course, because I hit the ball the most.

I am hitting a 4 hybrid or a 5 iron depending on environment. I cannot hit my 4 iron to save my life

So true about guys claiming a high 250+ yard average with driver. Anyone can do that if you do not care about staying on the fairway.

Typically use my sand wedge for that distance.

4 or 5 iron. I can't hit a driver anymore.
