Already been done.

I don't think any of the current Voter ID laws being pushed(at least the ones I've read) do that effectively.
That is a subjective matter of opinion, and I'll respect your druthers on that facet of the issue

I think they have ulterior motives, and that is to keep voters that traditionally vote Democratic away from the polls.
Most legislation has ulterior motives. Regardless, I believe this is something that sho have been passed long ago. The fact that it hasn't isn't an excuse for inaction, imo.

As long as I've been voting I've been required to show my ID. So that's something that's never bothered me. Anything over and above that for in person voting is a bit much. And as pointed out, there are larger issues of fraud in areas other than in person voting that needs to be addressed.

election integrity is the goal, start with accurate voter rolls first.
But that would disinfranchise deceased voters. Why do you hate dead people so much?

That is from 1964 though.

I wouldn't oppose an ID mandate but ultimately it really fixes nothing. If you want to work on fixing something that can have a lasting affect, then passing A) term limits and B)disallowing corporations to fund politicians, is the way to begin real change.
I bet the ID verification law is around the 50/50 mark on proponents while an extreme majority group of 80 something percent of citizen are for congressional term limits. If you cant get something passed that is good for the country and 80 something percent of the people are for, then you do not have a credible democracy.

I agree, but before one of our resident progressives says "Koch Industries", just remember that democrats receive more corporate political contributions by a HUGE margin.

I would actually take it a step farther and require people to correctly report and be current on all taxes due before being allowed to vote.

And possibly a step beyond that-if you are receiving any form of government assistance you should not be allowed to vote.

I would make it a requirement to actually pay taxes to vote.

Don't agree with that. You shouldn't be penalized if you are doing everything you are suppose to but still need help financially.
Perhaps the argument could be made that if govt assistance is your only source of income, and you are making no effort to change that then you restrict their voting rights. I have always felt that was just Slavery meant to farm votes. Idk tho...
Eta: assuming you are an able body that is
