Q39 in KC is fantastic and puts a fresh spin on BBQ. They are doing some incredible things but their burnt ends and pork belly are out of this world good.

I like BBQ, but I prefer to cook it myself because almost everything you get is Hickory smoked. I prefer Pecan with Butts and cherry for ribs. I view it more of an event. shite I even cook a whole butt for just myself. I like to drink beer all day so tending to the smoker while playing fetch with my dog is a great way to spend a saturday morning before football games
Damn i'm ready for some football

Yeah, why did you just do that to us? You set up this wonderful, short lived, scenario...only to rip it away when reality slapped my face!

I might be the rare Texan that doesn’t really give a frick about BBQ, mainly because I don’t care about brisket. I mean I eat it, but I could easily live without it. Given the choice between Mexican food or BBQ...I’m choosing Mexican every time.
However, I do love an excellent pulled pork sandwich with that super tasty vinegar bbq sauce. Isn’t that a North Carolina thing?

Memphis is king. Central BBQ is incredible.

Upstate South Carolina is home to vinegar based bbq sauce. North Carolina bbq sucks in comparison to SC que.
Worst bbq I've ever eaten was in bay st. louis. This woman has a small store and cooks bbq out front. Found out she was from California.

The ultimate best piece of BBQ is brisket.
Brisket has never once been the main feature on my plate. I will order pulled pork or smoked chicken or turkey... and let me have some brisket or burnt ends.

Clearly I need to get out of Texas and explore more of the South. To me when someone says BBQ the ONLY things I think of are;
-Brisket
-Jalapeño Sausage
-Dr. Pepper
-Shiner Bock
-A mix of traditional Southern and Tex-Mexish side dishes

I tried Slap’s BBQ in KCK awhile back, it’s pretty damn good.

Q39 has gotten a lot of run lately. I ate there a couple years ago and thought it was definitely above average but the place ain’t a BBQ joint, it’s a little too clean, swanky/uppity for me. That’s a great location for someone who’s visiting KC to grab some BBQ, not far from Westport and the Plaza.

BRQ is fricking amazing but other than that we don’t have a lot of great BBQ in Baton Rouge.

I'd rather have the blasphemous crap they call BBQ in the Carolinas than anything from Birmingham.
You sir are an idiot. There's plenty of good bbq. You just went to the chains. Miss Myra's is really good, but I'm sure you've never heard of it. Saw's is the tits, probably my vote for best bbq place in the ham. Best ribs I've ever had are at archibald's in northport. Literally a hole in the wall. Bham can stand it's ground with anyone for bbq, you just have to know where to look, and we don't havea ton of variety.

1. Shulers Bbq in Latta SC
2. Sonny Bryan’s.
3. Dreamland
Sonny Bryan's used to be decent, but it has gone to shite recently. They opened a bunch of additional locations around Dallas, and the quality went way downhill. It's basically Dickeys now.
Lots of great BBQ in Dallas though. Pecan Lodge, Caddlack, & Lockhart are all great.

Adams BBQ in Gainesville is really good. About 10 mins from the Swamp.
