This is stupid. If you're a member of the majority race, you DO have an advantage in that society, whether it's the U.S. or another country. It's really not up for debate.
Now, there are definitely certain situations where your skin tone may help you or hurt you, but overall, it is more advantageous to be white in America than black.
I see it every day when I go out with my wife. And she does too. At the end of the day, it's not about trying to play the victim any more than the next race, it's making the best of the hand you're dealt. Life ain't fair, whether the circumstances that make it unfair are your sex, height, or melanin count. Deal with it and move on. Tired of crying by both whites and blacks over the issue, tbh.
Black people: acknowledge that you're at a disadvantage, bust your arse, overcome negative stereotypes, and live your life
White people: acknowledge that you're at an inherent advantage, bust your arse, overcome negative stereotypes, and live your life.
White people use to believe this same shite. My how times have changed.

I'm not talking about everyday little things, like that white guy got hid food before we did and we got here first!!! Or that white guy just said you people!!!!!! Grrrrrr!!!!
I'm talking about real shite.
Like education.

I truly loathe white people who suck up to blacks due to white guilt. Apologists. Our generation is the most open minded generation in American history, yet there are still apologists who feel guilty for being white.
Switching topics: Hey TBird...when are you coming down to Springfield so that my wife and I can show you and Mrs. TBird the area? We'll take you boating on Table Rock Lake, go canoeing and hiking, whatever...

It seems obvious that our justice system has some issues with regards to race. I think a lot of those may be tied as much to socioeconomic status as race, especially with regards to judicial outcomes.
Iow, a good lawyer is an asset which is impossible to overvalue, black or white. And po folks get the shaft. I would suspect that a rural white poor person has as much of a chance of a longer sentence for a crime compared to the average as an urban black, all other things being equal.

So whites should suck up to black America and kiss arse? Okay.
Having legitimate conversations and debate is not the same as kissing arse. If you can't figure out what I'm saying, then to hell with you, brah.

I'm white for the most part. I wouldn't describe it as a disadvantage.

There's a difference between sucking up and showing some empathy to what others may have endured in their lives. It's disgusting to see people have the attitude that black people should just get over the past and move on. Like 50 years of moderate progress erases nearly 200 years of systemic policies of treating them less than human. I'm not that old and I'm less then a decade removed from my high school being segregated. For a lot of people those wounds are still very real.
Not saying you have that attitude, but that's the impression I get when people throw out the "white guilt" card.

Life is like chess, you want to be white.

Eh. Everyone has stuff in their past. Focusing on victim status limits the horizons of possibilities.
That's not insensitivity. It's just good advice.

I think that many just think that we shouldn't be judged for "our" past, even though many of "us" had nothing to do with black slavery--and in fact many of our ancestors were slaves themselves--Irish, etc.
I think everyone is aware what blacks and other races have had to endure. If you deny that you are a real racist. My only problem would lie with those that think they are owed something because of their history--when in reality, in what is almost 2014, they have just as good a chance to make a living as many white people. I think we accomplish nothing by obsessing over race.
I treat everyone as the same and try not to meddle with "the past". I'm not saying people have to "get over" anything, but like i've said, i have found that some of my own ancestors were likely slaves. I'm not saying it is the same exact scenario, i'm just saying that we don't have to keep going back and rehashing the past to "fix" the future
Treat everyone with respect and as a member of your own species, that's all

Really wasn't referring to slavery. For over 100 years after the Civil War ended, blacks were still treated as second class citizens, despite their supposed freedom.
Everyone has their past, and troubles they've endured. The only thing anyone is owed is some respect and maybe some empathy for what they've endured. Telling people they should just get over it is so incredibly insensitive, IMO.

And presuming that one person has had a more difficult life based upon skin color is a pretty bad idea, as well.

Until there are laws requiring the hiring and acceptance of white people, whites will never get a fair shake in this country, especially white men.

I would never think of telling someone to "get over it". Obviously that is wrong. You do have to admit, though, that there are some in the younger community that think they are owed something because of the struggle of their grandparents, etc. For these people i have no sympathy. For those who actually endured inequalities, i have the greatest sympathy. I guess there are growing pains with every transition in history. For a long time, i'm sure blacks and native americans etc. will have to deal with the feeling of "not being equal", for many good reasons--just as for a long time whites will have to deal with the whole "privileged, racist, etc" label, when many are not that way. It comforts me knowing that someday we will be past the fights over race. They are petty in the grand scheme of humanity

I love black humans. Along with every other color. If you trace history back far enough, everyone use to be some type of slave to some ruler. But you never hear any other race bitch and moan about it but black humans(not all of them of course).
Only 60 or 70 years ago millions and millions of Jews were killed for no reason other than their race. Not once in my life have I heard a Jew bitch for equal rights, or how we owe them anything. But maybe its different in Germany?
Thank God for Jews

This is the most preposterous thing I've read in this thread
And if you're talking about "real shite, like education," I got into A&M and got my degree on my own merits. And for all the affirmative action out there, it's curious how the ratios of black to majority students are still so lopsided at major universities.
But..........methinks you're partially trolling
And, killz, will definitely let you know if/when Mrs. T and I make it down to the Springfield area! Our next trip right now is set for CoMo at the end of this month, though

Jews get it.
How many black people do you think are in America?
