This is true. I really dislike Myrtle Beach, but the area seafood is top notch.
Yep. Avoid MB like the plague. Too trashy. The outlying areas are a totally different story as far as both trashiness and quality of food go.

Ha! It's good, but I've done better. I was lazy and didn't want to bother mopping it all night.

So instead of shitting on a states' BBQ prowess, I will tell you of a good place I hit in Houston today.
Brook's BBQ off Barker Cypress and 529. It's a shack in a strip center but the brisket is the tits, the venison sausage was really good too. Pork ribs were juicy without too much smoke. Plus, if you show your CHL and let them know you are carrying, you get a 10% discount.

What if I show a DL and a 1911 from a Constitutional Carry State? Can I eat for free?

That's a helluva drive for me, but if I'm over in that area of Houston I'll be sure to check it out.

I'm not reading 23 pages but I would just like to interject a couple things.
1. Mustard and Vinegar based BBQ are a waste of a pig.
2. Burnt ends are mans greatest culinary creation.

Only about 20 or so ahead of my at 1045. They open at 11.
The money shot
Beef: Burnt end, point, & flat
Pork: Pulled pork, spare ribs, & Sausage
Green beans & carrot soufflé
The brisket was very good. It's not Corkscrew good (best I've ever had), but zero complaints. The burnt ends weren't bad. In general I think BE are overrated. On to the pork. The pulled was excellent. I usually like it with more sauce and some bark mixed in, but the flavor was great. Same with the ribs. Flavor was great, the outside was just wet enough and perfectly candied. Inside was a little too tender so it kind of fell apart. Sausage wasn't anything special. Tastes just like the stuff at HEB. Surprisingly the carrot soufflé was as good as the que which was fantastic. If you're ever the NE Houston area, head up 249 to Tomball for Tejas. Absolutely great que and earned it's high Texas Monthly ranking. Still doesn't knock off Corkscrew as the King of Houston (Spring) BBQ.

Oh yeah I was there a couple weeks ago visiting my buddy in Who lives in madison.
He broke through the air ducts and fell through the roof is what I heard. You can see where they repaired it.

I've heard good things about corkscrew, but I'm an inter looper so I rarely get out there. Killers has held me over so far.

Heard good things about Killen's (their steakhouse too). It's probably the only real competition for Corkscrew.
However I do like the ribs at Gatlins

No, but I love those Louisiana mom and pop places, as long as I know what I am eating.

You almost had it - almost. ;) Tennessee is #1 with Memphis doing the hard work but with Middle and East, Tn checking in. The latter two hardly matter compared to Memphis but they do offer different styles of BBQ. For example, you'll find both a Memphis Dry Rub (not as common but still practiced) and an NC-style BBQ in East, TN since East, TN used to be NC.
Lots of Carolina influences in Tennessee. When all the good land was taken lots of Carolinians headed to Tennessee. I have been in a ton of states and I rank North Carolina 1 and Tennessee 2.

I would upvote this for the beautiful bbq, but you whiffed on the sides. Nobody eats green beans with bbq.
Also, where is your pickled onion? Jalapeno?

I wouldn't eat those green beans, but this is wrong. Some good southern wide green beans cooked with pork and bacon fat

Killen's is the best brisket I've ever had (have not had Corkscrew yet). It was very good.
