Awesome thread HRV
EDIT: These years were before my era, so not sure exactly what people may have or may not have heard, but this is a band whose sound I find interesting from the 60's:
Kaleidoscope - The Sky Children

Ofege - It's Not Easy (1973)
Psychedelic rock by a band from Nigeria in the ’70s. They were all teenagers.
Some have equated their garage-band sound to early tracks from The Velvet Underground.

Baw, The Swampers ain't got shite on me.

But seriously, if you haven't seen the Muscle Shoals documentary, it's a great watch.
Legend says that the Yuchie Tribe called it “the singing river.”

I miss Mr. Hendrix. That rock wall was a must stop for me everytime I passed through. He always had a great story for me anytime I passed through.

Here's one that's a little bit different.
Before Pigpen died as their frontman (at 27), the Grateful Dead centered more around blues and R&B.
This one was influenced by the blues of Robert Johnson, of "sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads" fame.
Grateful Dead - Easy Wind (1970)
